Daudi Bamuwamye passed out Monday afternoon while on the attraction, which simulates a rocket launch and trip to Mars. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said his mother carried him off the ride and employees helped her place him on a bench.

Paramedics tried to revive him, but he died about 5 p.m. at Celebration Hospital.

The sheriff's office said the boy did meet the minimum 44-inch height requirement for the ride at the Epcot theme park, which simulates twice the normal force of gravity.

A cause of death could not be immediately determined and an autopsy was expected Tuesday.

Officials said the boy was from Pennsylvania, but his hometown was not immediately available. He was on the ride with his mother and sister.

The $100 million ride, one of Disney World's most popular, was closed after the death.

In 2003, Disney began placing motion sickness bags in the ride. During an eight-month period in 2003-04, six people over age 55 were taken to the hospital for chest pain and nausea after riding it, though none of them was found to have any serious injuries.

Poor kid, cry.gif

Yea, I think that's what the last bit meant (I don't mean this is a rude way)
Paradox of Life
Wow. I've heard of people falling off roller coasters and crap, but not dying on a motion simulated ride blink.gif That's probably not the ride, just more of not following the precautions.
rAwritsgWeg
wow that sucks for that kid

that shows that disney land really does suck

Oh poor kid. Now I see why they have hieght requirements.
not_for_anything
Wow thats so crazy, I went on the ride like..2 years ago and i don't remember it even been that bad. But if i was that young i guess it would be,
r.i.p. little guy
jue
oh gosh. how old was this kid?
im guessing pretty young. Lifes too short. One simple ride could cause so much pain to so much people.

I was just checking to see if this topic was made already hahaha...well anyways that's really sad. If Disney was smart, they'd shut down the ride. If a death & many other health issues have occured alredy on this ride, who knows what could happen next?

oh yeah & by the way- the article I read on it said the ride was closed after the death, but was reopened the Tues. after mechanics & engineers checked the ride for malfunctions.( that wasnt supposed to sound rude lol).
xMiZziexKiMx
oh my.... poor lil kid..... =/
xcaitlinx
that's why i get so nervous when i go on rollercoasters at six flags. kingda ka was closed because these bolts fell out and the cables got loose. im never ever going on that again.
xsweetxcandyx
wow that sucks

i should have heard of it
i was at disneyland that day too
hmm...
aera
maybe they should have an age requirement too.

DISNEY IS THE DEVIL! I'm just kidding of course, I enjoys me some Stitch. But seriously.. If the ride does cause things like this, why was it open in the first place? And Of All Places.. EPCOT?!?!? This is the place with the different diversities of the world not of superb rides..

It's really sad the kid died, but nobody should really be blamed, but the ride.. something should've been done about it before..
jooleeah
....I'm going to Disney World during the summer. mellow.gif

That's sad, though. Disney is usually pretty safe.

Oh God, that's terrible. And it's even wierder, considering I was just on that ride a week and a half ago mellow.gif

Poor kid. RIP.

Kind of odd, though. There have been a few times people have been seriously hurt at Disney parks. Last year, a man died and another had to have his leg cut off on one of the rides there, and at Disneyland, one of the rides that has different traint hings running at the same time collided with one another. It's not broadcasted as often, so not many people really hear about it more than 24 hours. I guess Disney just doesn't want that stuff said about them, who knows.

obviously. who'd want bad publicity.

Amusement parks aren't really for amusement anymore.

Aww.. thats so sad cry.gif i heard there was a lady who fell of a rollercoaster or something at Disneyland... and a lady fell off a water ride at knotts so sad.. it's one thing i don't look forward to when i go to theme parks..
emazing
Yes indeed. RIP.
That is a lesson for me and all others to always make sure you meet the height requirements and all of the other requirements listed in order to go on rides. 'Specially roller coasters. biggrin.gif
KERP1UNK
aww thats sad. stuff like that makes me scared to go on a lot of rides like that..even if i meet the height requirement or w/e...

yeah. i heard that too. i think the ride was perilous plunge, if i'm not mistaken?
emzergirl
Yeah, I heard about that on the news. So sad, it really made me upset cry.gif . I can't believe they let his height slide like that. One thing I know, you should never take a 4 year old on a ride like that. I guess they didn't end up having much fun at the "happiest place on earth".
Midnight Faerie
cry.gif That's soo sad! I didn't think that anyone could die on that ride....but I mean they didn't follow the precautions....but still...T_T

This sort of thing never happens on the rides at Neverland Ranch.
sohyongsheng
Man thats sad. Maybe he has bad karma. Did something real bad in his past life. Rest in peace little kid.
demolished
o gawd, i just got bacck Disneyland todai at C.A, L.A. i went to that disneyland where that man died in the ride.

but it was hella fun at disneyland ..

anyways, no matter anyone follows the rules, at least someone will died.
biglamchops
Whoa..that's sad. The simulation must have been pretty good...
Poof_Spoof
Oh, crap! I saw that on my homepage today! blink.gif
They said he didn't have any record of health problems before he died, (well that's what I heard) It's really puzzling once you think about it. stubborn.gif That poor kid... sad.gif

beautifuls0ul_x3
oh wow that is so sad. cry.gif that poor little boy.

i remember at six flags they said i was tall enough to go on this rollercoaster that was over water. well i guess not, i was going to fly out but my dad caught me. i haven't gone on one since.
tweeak
isn't that a pretty new ride? i don't think it was finished yet when i was there 2 years ago
swe3ttemptasian

Yup, it just opened last summer, I'm pretty sure. How sad. Not even a year-old ride.
IamRad
aw thats so sad, poor kid -=(
SandRAWRz
yeash i heard about that...i really want to know how he died
JS022489
poor kid, he was only 6.. he shouldn't have been on that ride... even if he did make the height requirements

i'm not trying to sound bad but where was the mom's common sense? ... that ride warns you before you get on about the precautions and even made my sister sick in line before she could reach the line...

that ride isn't that bad but for a six year old I can see how it killed him... at the age of 6 your heart isn't fully developed yet alone any parts of you, and mistakes happen everywhere, it's just that "big" of a deal cuz it was Disney... the world isn't perfect

R.I.P little man, my heart goes out to you and your family... much love <3
BrokenDream
Aw man, that made me sad for the day cry.gif. That's so sad!

ya but the kids still disappear.

ive been on that ride, and i felt like i was gonna puke afterwards.
my dad says he'll never get on that ride aain after he went on it. so ya that ride does mess with people man. but the ride is intense. i bet it was the simulated extra gravity that probably hurt him the most.
mocassinsx29
They should put a strong warning on that ride or something or you have to sign something to ride it and you have to be over 18... =T I dunno, what happened was a real tragedy but I don't think they should close the ride...
karrar
haha sucks for him .
