Tim Burton rocks, that goes without saying. However, his new movie, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" in my opinion, looks iffy. It just looks really a bit too wierd

I mean, what is up with Depp's hair? I'm still going to go see it, but I'm kind of hesitant. I don't think it will measure up to the old movie. I hope it does, but I dont think it will.
What do you guys think?
Here's a link to the preview (you have to have Quicktime):

I am of the same opinion. Mostly because I don't think Johnny Depp is even nearly capable of filling Gene Wilder's shoes.

It's a lot different from the first movie. The first one was more of a family- and kid-friendly musical; this one is supposed to be a lot darker. If you've ever read the book, it's more of a dark story, rather than a fun one (albeit still a very entertaining read).

=( I know.
Tim was... a genious. I don't know what happened with all the.... pop and frazzle of the new Willy Wonka.
It's really not my type of thing [that I have grown to love of Burton].
Let's hope he rebounds back.

it's different, which is a good thing. What's the point of making a remake if it's exactly like the original?

Exactly!
The book is pretty damn dark, therefor the movie WILL BE AWESOMER than the original.

The Reason I wanna see the movie is just because of that reason.. it looks weird. I saw a billboard for it and the kids look cool and all neon-colory.. and flourescent and dark at the same time.. Which is really bizarre. I really wanna see the movie. Did you know that according to Bravo TV Network, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory is Number 74 on the 100 scariest movie moments? Yeah. It's weird.

I agree with the first two posts. The first one was such a classic and I loved it as a kid. I dunno if this remake can live up to it. But I'll have to see it for myself to decide.
