Again .. I'm trying out as a film maker over the summer. I was wondering if there's any good video editing software available.

Adobe After effects. It's $400, so it's probably not an option.

I have Windows Move Maker in my computer that came with XP, which is probably worthless. It never hurts to try it out though.

Well, the best would probably have to be Apple's Final Cut, but if you don't have a Macintosh, that's probably not an option. Any Avid or Adobe software should do on the Windows side. But anything you find will be fairly expensive (unless you have a Mac, or access to one, and can use iMovie, which is free with a Mac and very, very slick).

Go with Final Cut Pro! If not, then Adobe Premiere.

Adobe Premiere, Money is no object in the PC world - you can get a copy of Adobe Premiere for about $120 - $200, or free if you want to go the illegal way. Adobe Premiere is good enough to pay for. And if your Non-Profit adobe will do a big deal for ya, and if you know anyone in the education area - use em.

Save up a lot; Final Cut Pro is about $1000. ;)
Final Cut Express is only $300, though. They're both great film editing programs--best in the business, I'd say (and yes, I do have quite a bit of experience in broadcast-quality film production).
Both programs only run on Macs, though.

I've had some experience with Final CUt Pro and I'd just have to say it's the BEST. It's a rally neat program to have...and I guess that's why it's expensive. But if you don't have a MAC..It's not an option. ><

I recommend Final Cut pro, because my friend Molly (erianight) uses it to edit and make videos. It works pretty well she says.

EriaNight (Molly)---reporting for duty:
Final Cut Pro rocks my socks.
But if you have PC you could also get Vegas 4.0 and there is a trial version on download.com
Plus it's 500 dollars cheaper which is kind of nice....It's almost exactly like Final Cut (in so many ways).
Top Programs Film Editors Use:
1) Final Cut Pro--Mac
2) Avid--PC
3) Vegas--PC
Dude, we should totally talk over PM. Yeah and I agree---get the educational discount if possible.

It will save you big bucks.
