I've been listening to my playlist religiously, to discover that a lot of is male based...eg. MCR, The Killers, Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, The Vines, The Used etc etc.
And i want more female artists like, Missy Higgins, KT Tunstall, Natalie Imbruglia, Alanis Morrisette etc etc. I can't seem to find any Indie Female Artists, or any that aren't severly mainstream female artists.
I'm really into anything.
Please post some suggestions, will be MUCH appreciated!

feist. definitely. and if you just want female vocals you could check out rilo kiley, azure ray, the fitness, camera obscura, cat power, the cinema eye, tilly and the wall (only some of their songs), the dresden dolls, freezepop, huckapoo, i am the world trade center, and mates of state. there's a lot more, but i don't feel like trying to think of them. maybe if i get less lazy i'll edit this later with some more.

Eh, this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but they're really good and they're fronted by a female.
The band is Lacuna Coil.
The singer is Cristina Scabbia.

Michelle Branch? Indie? What the hell. Oh, my that's...
*Crawls into corner and shoots herself*
...Anyway.
Natalie Imbruglia's voice is amazing, as is Amy Lee's. But if you're going to listen to Amy, I recommend that you download some of the unreleased Evanescence songs, like
- Solitude
- Breathe No More
- Missing
- Give Unto Me
- Forgive me
And so on. They're not as overplayed as some of the other ones, and they're just so much better.
Oh! And Tsunami Bomb! Female rocker. Cool beans.
And as Nicki stated above, Fiona Apple is amazing, as well. Wohoo

Is this "ignore Tori Amos" time?? Seriously, she's amazing.
If you like Amy Lee type vocals, I suggest Theatre of Tradegy...omg, Liv Kristine is amazing. She has another band, called Leaves Eyes, which is softer and more melodic.
And there's Jessicka from Jack Off Jill and Scarling...also an amazing vocalist.
Nightwish vocalist Tarja is an incredibly talented woman, she does operatic vocals and is a classically trained opera singer.
Switchblade Symphony singer Tina also does good dark, gothic vocals.
Tapping The Vein has a very haunting female vocalist.
Bel Canto isn't my cup of tea, but if you like Bjork or female fronted indie pop, this band will probably rock your socks.
If want to hear female vocalists get angry, then you need to listen to some of the following bands:
Arch Enemy: I recommend the whole "Wages of Sin" album. It's mind-blowing
Hanzel Und Gretyl: Female fronted German Industrial band.....simply amazing. If you like Rammstein, you'll love this band.
Walls of Jericho: If you like hardcore music or brutal music at all, then give this band a try. I have no idea why she's so angry but it works.
Otep: Can't forget this lyrical poet....her music is ok, but her lyrics are some of the best around...
And just for fun, The Iron Maidens, an all chick Iron Maiden tribute band. They rock. If you like Iron Maiden...

I think Skye Sweetnam has a great voice and great songs!
Avril Lavigne is okay too. Skye and Avril is almost like a same tune that's what some people think. And I think that way too. They almost sound like each other.
