Anyone listen to rappers from Indie labels like Def Jux, Rhymesayers or Epitaph?

I'm a big fan of Murs, MF Doom (the guy in my avatar), Slug, Mr. Lif, among others.
nightsong
Woah. Haven't posted here in a while.

Tomorrow I am going to San Francisco to see Say Hi to Your Mom and Nada Surf play. To be honest, I haven't really listened to Say Hi after the release of their latest cd.

I've been looking for "Umbrella" by the Snowmen, and suprisingly google has provided only a little bit of help.

All I know about the Snowmen (and it's not even concrete information) is that the vocalist was a man named Cole Marquis, who was also the vocalist of other bands which included 28th Day and Downsider.

If anyone can find the song (or any song by Cole, actually), please send it to me via AIM. (sn = oh oh the agony)

xo, Pauline

edit:
William, I have the original version of "Falling Out of Love with You". If you still want it, IM me.

edit:
I found the song. Good God, I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw the link. http://www.noisepop.com/mp3s/cole_marquis_umbrella.mp3

^i actually found someone who had the first 6ths album on soulseek, but thanks.

i love "how to tie a noose" by spinnaker. it's so eerie how much he sounds like conor oberst.

I like Starlight Mints. Not sure if anyone has mentioned them.
And Orenda Fink has the vocals of an angel.

Yeah, I'm fond of Starlight Mints. "Brass Digger" is awesome.

I've been getting in to french music lately.

CUT YOUR HAIR AND GET A JOB! RENT A FLAT ABOVE THE SHOP! SMOKE SOME FAGS AND PLAY SOME POOL PRETEND YOU NEVER WENT TO SCHOOL.
(from "common people")

animal collective is good. I'm quite fond of "Who Could Win a Rabbit" by them.
tweeak
I really like The Purple Bottle. I'm in search of the rest of their cd.

Interesting story behind the Drexlers. The middle school orchestra teacher (well, he left the year after us, but anyway) is part of the band, and my friend actually recorded with them as well (guess who that would be, James rolleyes.gif). Hm, but so I recommmend.

As for the Go! Team, I've decided I like "The Power is On"

Okayyyy

Styrofoam made a mediocre remix of the Postal Service's "Nothing Better," but did another sing with Ben Gibbard that I like a rather lot. I just downloaded some Crystal Skulls as well.

Citizens Here and Abroad are really good.
You guys should check them out, --it'll be worth it.

^i listened to the mp3's on their site, and it definitely was worth it.

the new her space holiday cd is so good. i've been listening to a lot of math the band, imogen heap, and thunderbirds are now! lately. also, i read in an interview that daniel radcliffe's favorite bands are stars and we are scientists, which was a pleasant surprise.
tweeak
WILLIAM!!!

I love We Are Scientists! I don't have the whole thing, but I agree that what I've heard of the new Her Space Holiday was quite good. Same of Imogen Heap. I discovered The Changes last night, and they were pretty good, and Speaker Speaker is fun too. I like the Arctic Monkeys a lot, no matter what James says about them being overrated, and Cat Power and Cocorosie are pretty good too. New Buffalo seems to have potential, but Ihaven't yet decided whether or not I like the new Fiery Furnaces stuff. What Made Milwakee Famous, the Arogants, etc etc. I downloaded a lot more Ted Leo last night, and Stars, too
racoons > you
the arctic monkeys also arent undeground, but ok = )

anyway. my friends band ar pretty darn good consiering they have only been together a week, i'll post some songs later
tweeak
They are HERE

I hve never seen them ANYWHERE off mp3 blogs
racoons > you
deep breathes.

they have had a number one hit in the UK charts.
tweeak
Well, I don't exactly follow them. I haven't seen any signs of them or even anyone who knows who they are here.

Oh, and Jenny Lewis's new album has leaked, but I haven't listened to the whole thing yet
rockstermonkey
I actually rather like Arctic Monkeys, I downloaded a bunch of their tracks, but I like "Fake Tales of San Francisco" a ton. I picked up a copy of NME and apparently they're the "it" thing in the UK. They're still damn awesome.
Recently, I've been getting in to Wheat. I think they were on the Elizabethtown soundtrack (did anyone even see that movie?).
william
i've been too busy with school to discover new bands, but i am getting into the american analog set a lot more. i don't like cocorosie much. and daniel radcliffe actually said his favorite band was the arcade fire... i just too excited because i finally remembered my cb password (took almost a month!) and finally got to post.
tweeak
ooh, so that's why you hadn't been on! I've actually been doing a lot of new band discovering, because it's a nice way to clear my mind when I'm really stressed out. I've actually only listened to one CocoRosie song, but it was pretty good in a strange way. It's nice that Daniel Radcliffe has good taste, heh.
StanleyThePanda
One Amazin Kid is sooo pretty

Anyone an MF Doom fan?
yo pusha
mf doom is a creative dude, but i just can't get into him. speaking of creative, lupe fiasco is the truth.
fameONE
^Ay nukka, IM me: MosDef613

Lupe is nice man. I looked him up after he referred to Lupin the 3rd on KanYe's album.

Doom is sick, but his voice and accent is something to get used to. I'm still trying to figure out why he wears that mask.
steezahh
mmm... public enemys cool ;]

i downloaded the jenny lewis/watson twins album that's coming out in 2006 and it's wonderful. i have to thank you for mentioning redlightglow, nicki!
tweeak
you're welcome, i find it extremely helpful. i think most of jenny lewis' album is prettygood, but a couple of tracks like "big guns" are a little too country for me. i particularly like "handle with care," the one that features ben gibbard and conor oberst

i'm really liking sunny day real estate right now, but i can'tfind anymore of their music. same with sparklehorse.

i like what i've heard of belle and sebastian's new album as well
