my sister did that but it was like really dark purple and you could only tell it was purple in the sunlight but it wasn't like ugly or anything...it was awesome and cool!

Dark purple/dark blue/dark red <=very cool and funky colours for hair! I want my hair to be really dark blue (more of a black blue) since my hair is black, I want a bit of colour tinge in it~ ^^

Do it while you can, its hott...i did orange with purple when I was 17 or 18...It certainly gets you noticed!

I have to agree with almost everyone else here, you would look great with a dark purple. I dyed my hair dark blue once, bleaching it first and I LOVED it. I'm pretty conservative and I loved the contrast of my appearance and my personality, plus, little kids are hilarious when you see them looking at you, they're so much more honest than their parents (usually). They just stare, whereas the parents stare at you while trying to look like they're not staring or they get this constipated 'You must be an axe-murderer' expression.

My blue started washing out so I colored purple over it, and my husband liked that even better than the blue (which is my favorite color).

Your dark hair would look great with purple over it, more like a rinse than a dye, making the color rich and dark, as well as leaving your hair healthier. If you want something dramatic though, you could bleach just a few strips, like highlights, then dye it, so that you have a dark purple base with medium purple highlights.

Either way, it's your hair, have fun with it! You are very pretty.

You should definitely go for it. It's unique and it's not too vibrant and obnoxious. I'm usually skeptical about dying hair unnatural colors, but I think it's a really good idea. So I say, GO VIOLET!
