Okay, anyone read these books? If so what's your opinion on them? I have to read one over the summer.

Entertainment? Homework? Perhaps.

There was so much symbolism in Invisible Man; very in depth stuff, lot of detail. It was difficult for me to focus.
Catch-22 I liked.

we read a farewell to arms this year and it was not that good in my opinion. it was basically a love story set it world war one, but it was too cheesy.

I read The Sun Also Rises two years ago. It was nice and all about love. lol Slaughterhouse-Five is really good although I never read it, but I don't like the author's style.

then how can you say it's a good book if you've never read it and you don't even like the author? jeez.

My absolute favorite from that list are Heller's Catch-22, simply because his writing style is absolutely fantastic, and when you're finished reading the book you'll [sigh] in amazement.

As well, Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five is classic. His writing style resembles much of Heller's, and the book was simply incredible.

All of this is pending you enjoy reading 600 page books.

"As I lay dying" will make you want to slit your wrists to get out of reading it. The only other ones on the list I've read are the Hemmingway ones. I really enjoy anything he writes. So go with that.

My friends who have read it and my teachers as well say it's a good book and I believe them. It is also a very well-known book. I personally don't like the author because of his style. Jeez. Good point.

I don't have a choice in the matter. I have to read on of these.

ok I read Slaughterhouse-five, the book was ridiculous it was a mockery of satire written by a five year old clearly the book had no humourous tone although my teacher claimed it was the greatest book of all time... You should read The things they carried by Tim O'brien. that was a good book

It was moved from the lounge to entertainment. I don't know why it was moved into entertainment, maybe the person didn't read it very carefully? If there is a homework forum that would be a great place for this. (I didn't know there was a hw one.)

i read jane eyre in 7th grade. i loved it, but eeryone else hated it

If i were you I would read the first couple chapters.. then after get the background info.. I just search it on the internet... that way it's easier...

I've never read any of them, but Catch-22 is supposed to be good and isn't invisible man by HG Wells? His stuff is hard to read, I read war of the worlds for a book report and a term paper, you really have to concentrate on his stuff.
