I don't think you can get a good camera for under 200. One that takes good quality pictures AND is a good size. Most of them are over 300.. I think.
chinesekimchi
get something simple, cool, and easy to work with, a digital camera would be cool. i have one and its nice, easy to use, and light. it also comes with a printer and paper for ur pictures! i think its over 200 dollars. mostley everyone i kno has that camera. well good luck! _smile.gif
miss barnes
over 300? my God what am i gonna do now? i dont think my dad is going to be willing to spend that much. oh well, i'll find something. i'm looking for a hi tech camera. just one that doesnt take blurry pics & can connect to the computer.
mzkandi
I am looking into buying a new camera as well but I dont want to spend more than 150 -yeah I'm cheap...maybe I should check out ebay...
kill me please
you can get good camaras for under 200. like ive seen 5 mega pixel and like 4x zoom for only 150. brands i think are good, Sony, Panasonic, ... eh cant think right now, but shop around and good luck.
Eryi
I like my Canon PowerShot S500. I think it's an 's'. mellow.gif However it costs like 500 dollars. pinch.gif
macb
just make sure it's 3.2 megapixels or higher. anything lower will create horrible quality pictures, not even good enough to print out on standard 4" x 6" photos
miss barnes
3.2 megapixel? ok- i saw one for $100. i can do that
moomoognu
The higher the megapixels doesn't necesarily mean it takes better quality photos than a camera with a slightly lower amount of megapixels. I suggest you do your homework and read reviews on certain cameras and see what other people say about the camera you're considering.

I've been taking pictures for over 10 years, and I'd like to offer you a word of valuable advice:

Look in a pawn shop.

As unappealing as that may sound, my first camera cost $95.00, was a Pentax, and took some of the most beautiful black and white pictures I've ever shot.

Granted I got more interested in photography and paid $5,000 for a Nikon D2X, you can get a very handy camera for way less than the $300.00 these people are telling you about.

Hope that helps. wink.gif
sadolakced acid
i have a nice pentax, it's beautiful.

a bit old (older than me), but it sure is nice.

shutter and apeture control.

my friend's $700 digital can't do that (well, i think it can, but she can't figure it out)

if you're going to go with digital, i don't think you should get it from a pawn shop, but for film, i agree, go to a pawn shop.

That was helpful. I will have to check out some local pawn shops

The.. HP Photosmart M417

It's 5.2 pixels for $200
gladz612
hm... if u want a handy one, i'd say the new sony. but for better quality i'd say canon.
redpeony
Ummmm
go old school!
Get a manual camera

You can get a second hand Pentax ME Super camera body for like... 30, 40 bucks I'm guessing.

And then the rest you can spend on a lens!

But if you want to go the digital route, the HP Photosmart M417 sounds good for your price range.

im pretty happy with my canon powershot A510. it was about $200. perhaps not the greatest, but it has a lot of features and is smaller than the more popular A75, 95 etc
miss barnes
whew!! soo many decisions....

I know a good deal about cameras. If you want a cheap camera (around $200) but with very good image quality I suggest you get the Canon PowerShot A75. http://reviews.cnet.com/Canon_PowerShot_A7...7-30732128.html It's highly rated. Or the A510 like tweeak mentioned, but I don't know much about that camera. But it's Canon power, so it can't be too bad! _smile.gif Just buy one of the Canon PowerShots! biggrin.gif http://reviews.cnet.com/4502-6501_7-0.html...00036id=5245817 Megapixels is not a huge factor. As long as the camera has at least 2MP then you can print great 4x6. The more megapixels, the larger the prints you can develop. Just don't buy non-brand names. Stick to Canon, Sony, Minolta and Olympus for point & shoot cameras.

edit// This one is $126 - $175. http://reviews.cnet.com/Canon_PowerShot_A4...l?tag=pdtl-list

get a canon or sony

You should check out electronic stores like bestbuy.com, etc. Look for a camera that's in your price range and then google/look for reviews of it.

It may not be of the highest quality brands like Nixon, Sony, or Canon but you should be able to get a fairly decent one.

some are slightly more expensive.. but there are a few for a good price

The Kodak EasyShare cameras are good, and at least one model is available for under $200.
rueyaroo
i have a minolta..its pretty good...but it was like $300-400........
i don't know any good CHEAP cameras
medic
$200 for the Camera itself, god, my memory cards cost more than that LOL. I would go with a Nikon Coolpix 5700 / 5 Megapixel / 8x Optical Zoom / 4x Digital Zoom but there about 2x the ammount your allowed to spend. Now a Fuji Finepix S3100 / 4 Megapixel / 6x Optical Zoom / 3.4x Digital Zoom would be a grate starter camera for $249.99. And maybee even a Kodak EasyShare DX6490 / 4 Megapixel / 10x Optical Zoom / 3x Digital Zoom for $279.99. I mean I started out with a Sony Cybershot back in the day, there nice cameras but cost about $800.00....

I would tell you to get the Camera I have laying next to me but its about 14x as much as you have to spend. I would go with the Fuji Finepix, they have nice warranties and have extremely nice lenses. As for the Kodak, it lacks in the lens department and does not really have that good of a body - and well it does have that fancy name.
topsyturvy
^ Agree. Cameras from the Nikon Coolpix series are pretty good. Or Canon Powershot.

If I were you I would get a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7...

miss barnes
well..problem is solved. i got a kodak easyshare. it didnt cost too much and it takes really good pictures. i'm just a beginner..i didnt want some hi-tec camera...
mipadi
The EasyShare is a great camera. _smile.gif

Well, all of the good quality cameras are over 200. they're about 250-up. Well it depends on the megapixels (for pictures to come out good when blown up). I would recommend a nikon coolpix (i have that), sony cybershots, or canon.

Add another 0 to that price, and you might be right. wink.gif

Decent cameras can definitely be found for $200 or less, but a professional one will cost into the thousands of dollars.
Hiphop d[-_-]b
i just compared the prices i wanted at bestbuy.com and with the camera brands i wanted and things, i suggest one of the Canon powershot SD hundreds. thats the one i have, and it works really well. for something in your price range id say SD200 but the latest, SD500 is GREAT.
mojaam
Even though I got a Konica Minolta I heard a lot of good stuff about Canon cameras.
