Okay, I hope this is in the right forum, but I have been wondering,
How can a genocide be stopped?
What is a genocide? Basically for a brief definition, it is the mass murder of a certain race by another certain race.
Take the Holocaust for example. By far, I think in my opinion, was the worst genocide in the world's history, but lets not stray from the topic I was originally planning.

So how can a genocide be stopped?
Killing the leader?
Nuke them out?
Peace treaties?
Full out war?

Ideas would be nice. This was a way to see what some people might think.

In my opinion, there is no certain way to end a genocide. There might be a way that will work for one genocide, but there is no rigid choice that would work for all genocides.

So, how can all genocides be stopped if more were to ever occur?

Once the opposing force is fully commited in systematicly destroying the other race, there is no way to stop it. Kill the leader ? will cause caos and more killing. Nuke them ? Will get to many innocent people in the mix. Peace Treaties? never work . War? never the answer. The way to stop a genocide is to try and demolish the thought of one before it even begins. When racial tensions begin , we must take it upon our selves to make sure these diffrences are resolved.

Also, in my mind the Holocaust is very overated. Yes i understand 5 million people died, and i do think it is something that never should have happened. However these numbers don't even compare to the 20 million killed by Soviets in the Great Purge .Yet you never hear about this incident near as much as the Holocaust.............

I definitly agree with what you said about the holocust... there has been like a million other genocides ALL around the world and no one ever makes a big deal out of them.... I guess those people that died aren't as important....

no one remembers the armenians. they are lost forever. the turkish genocide succeded, where the nazi genocide failed.

How did they succeed? Armenia is a well country right now . I'm not trying to justify what the Truks did but what im saying is the Armenian race was not killed of . I have two Armenian friends at school .

My question is; what drives a person so insane that he believes that an entire race must be wiped off the planet?

Very simple: The presence of an inferiority, and in contrast, the heighten of a superiority in the human gene pool.

Human Taintedness
Usually, Genocidal actions are put into effect because they believe that the traits that one race inherits from one generation to the other weakens the human race in general. In order to "purify" the human race, they believe that the weak traits of the human race (usually associated to with one specific group) should be wiped out. Survival of the fittest. Adolf Hitler proposed once to destroy medicine. By doing so, he hoped to accomplish that those that were susceptible to disease and cripples would die out, and therefore, take out the "disease" gene in the human race. Systematically, he tried the same thing with the Jews, but directly exterminate them in the Nazi death camps like Auschwitz.

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP GENOCIDE IS TO ACCEPT EVERYONE AS EQUALS

There is another way to stop genocide...an evil way. Have them succeed in there genocide...that would do it. But of course no one wants that.

That wouldn't be stopping it, that's just ignoring it. Your assuming after the specific race or group has been killed off it would stop, but at that point of success what if it is decided to target another race or group, then what? But i agree, i don't think most people want that either.

Now that I read a few of the posts, the Haolocaust is a little overrated.

And one reason why genocide starts because the leaders want to get rid of dissents and those they think or claim are inferior to them. It's really hard to stop one also. I mean if someone was on a killing rampage, then...it would be difficult. I think it might be easier than before because of technology. It depends on what form of homicide you want to commit (I mean as in getting rid of the leader so the whole thing would come to a halt or slow down). If you want to kill the leader, then you can do it in ways that did not exist when Stalin or Hitler were alive.

I think that once a Genocide begins, it can never end. I guess it is similar to a Pandora's Box. Once the idea is out or if it starts, it can't stop because there will always be someone with that mind set because equality will never be reached.

um, genocide doesn't have to be about race....

holocaust maybe? ... that was about religion, not race.

I thought about it, and one way to stop Genocide is to have everyone in the world reproduce with eachother, so we all are every single race that is out there...it would be one giant 'sex fest.'

When i say we i mean the babies and eventually everyone will be every race...so, like, we should make laws that forbid sex with the same ethnicity !!
