Couldnt think of a decent name.

NOW ,

I mentioned this lady Velma Barfield ( first lady to be executed in the US ) now , they said she wasnt mentally ill , mening she wasnt crazy.

NOW AGAIN , Do you believe that a person that KILLS people can be proved NOT crazy.

I think EVERYONE who kills someone has some type of mental illness.

Agree or disagree.

I WANT REASONS WHY , NOT JUST NO.

Well, they don't have to have a mental illness. If they do have one though, they shouldn't be executed; they should be sent to the asylum. Maybe someone killed for money or love (no matter how cheesy it sounds). They may be crazy enough to kill someone, but they may not necessarily have a mental illness.
EmmalieV
^Yes , but I want to know why you think they dont have to be mental to kill someone , any sane person wouldnt do it maybe think of it for a moment.
megan_x3
I really don't think that you people kill other people just because they're crazy. Some just randomly kill people because they're upset, depressed, pressure , and other things that you can make you think wrongly. I'm sure some people get possessed by someone that found them as a target. You would be really unlucky if you got killed by someone that doesn't even know you and they're just mad. If someone is really insane .. they shouldn't be executed because they're believing in something that made them to do that .. so I'm sure in their real self, they wouldn't kill anyone if they weren't mental or anything. cool.gif

No. some people could just hate someone with so much passion, that their goal is to murder them. Or.. they want revenge from something that person has done to them in the past.

I agree with Toby. =)
Most people don't even habe a mental illness when they commit a murder. I guess they were still concious.

Noo...Just because a person kills someone doesn't prove that they're mentally ill.

`^ can everyone explain to me why they feel the way they do , which is the MAIN point of the topic.

What more of an explaination do you need that hasn't already been said? Do you want an example? Okay, say someone murders my mother. I desperately hunt that person down, pull out my gun and shoot them to death. Am i mentally ill? of course not, it was an "act of passion." Therefore I can be proven sane.
CrackedRearView
People that kill people don't necessarily have a mental illness.

They just never developed a sense of remorse and permanence.

NO they don't have to be cazry they could just kill people because their mad or like they like the feeling who knows.
Shattered_Hope
I don't think a person has to have a mental illness to kill someone...they could just have alot of hate in them? _unsure.gif
not_for_anything
I would say that the people who kill are largly missunderstood
how can we as the sane people understand how to inflict that much pain on society
I've been reading up on this alot actually, and the the people who kill many people at once(mass murders) are not crazy, just..angry, usually act out of revenge toward society, but they realize what they are doing, but serial killers(kill many over time), or ones who go on killing sprees, may be crazy...if they kill people they know they arent crazy, if they kill the old lady down the street, im pretty sure everyone can realize their sick minds

im not sure i belive all of this, but i dont belive they are all crazy...well the typical old white guy killer anyway
crayonzUpMyNose
i agree. or at least theyve been through alot of trauma and need some serious therapy

Yeah.

Like .... if you really got pissed off at a person and was like, "Oh my gosh, I wanna kill you!" - would you count yourself as mentally sick?
basick
If somebody raped your little sister/daughter would you not want some retribution?

Theres a huge difference fcrom actually thinking it and doing it.
ghetosmurph
No, human emotions such as jelousy, anger, long standing hatred, love, are all things that can make one partially irrational at times, but those ppl are def. not mentally ill, they know what they are doing and make the choice to do it.....
EmmalieV
^Not all people exactly understand what they are doing.
senoritacheese
No, a person does not have to be mentally ill to kill someone. I, honestly, don't think those kids who bring a gun to school and shoot everyone are mentally insane. When someone makes fun of you, you want them out of your life. Also, those people who get a gun and shoots everyone in their path. They are probably doing it from fear, or taking their struggles out on them. I know, after this you may think that I am insane, but that's my opinion.

edit//
Do drugs count as a mental ilness? (stupid question) If they don't then many more murders are not accountable for mental ilness.

I think most maybe even all murders, drugs or not, are due to a thirst for something, an addiction, a need to fill an emptyness.
