This probably would be easy for you to answer.
Well, you see, we're learning fractions. I'm the kind who doesn't pay attention in class. So.. well.. I know how to do it. the problem is, that the way my teacher tells us to do it is, well, a little.. hard for me to do. And confusing.

So, my question is, can anybody give me their way of doing a multiplication problem with fractions?
This is 6th grade math. It should be easy for you.. >.<

Like this problem:
2/4 x 5/22 = __

My way is a little bit.. hard. so, I really want to have an easy lesson of doing it, so it could be easier for me.

you multiply the numerator and denominator striaght across duh
it would be like multiplying the 2 stright across to the 5 and same with the denominator
2/4 x 5/22 = 10/44

It's actually 10/88. 4 x 22=88.

Edit because my last post made no sense:
Yeah, like gotnoheart said, Vietrice, you multiplied wrong. 4 x 22 = 88

Let me draw you a picture:

The answer isn't 10/88 if you're required to simplify it.

It should be 5/44 simplified.

You could work work it like this, too:

Simplify the problem so you don't have to simplify the answer.

I know that something like 8 x 3/4 is equivilant(sp?) but.. I had a problem today that was like.. not equivilant.
like.. 3 x 1/4 = ?

3 is the same as 3/1. So it would look like this:

would be.. how?
I always thought it was multiplying fractions first, but then I'm wondering about the whole number..

Again, it's a lot quicker if you simplify the problem before working it out. That way, you don't have to simplify the answer.
