if they actually meant that, then that's pretty ignorant.
sometimes, people who say that need to check out better music. m-flo (great japanese rap group, unique flows) could probably start your day with great songs. PM me for more details. Lena Park... my favorite singer. her voice can go to almost any tune, and she's a great performer. i know i'm going a little off topic out of the "chinese music" topic, but there are some asian singers/rappers who are great artists and unique from others.

Haha, really? Cantonese rap is effing annoying, IMO. Mandarin rap is way better... (I'm Cantonese btw)
Ni wen wo ai ni you dou shen...I love that song. =p
My favourites are probably
- Jay Chou (of course)
- David Tao
- Leehom Wang (Alex Wang)
- Leo Ku (I LOVE this guy)
- Wilfred Lau (the songs he sings are amazing, sounds like Eason Chan)
- Eason Chan. haha
- Gigi Leung
- Joey Yung
- Charlene Choi (I have a great distaste for Gillian).
- Edmond Leung
- All the classics, obviously. (Jacky Cheung, Leon Lai, Andy Lau, Hacken Lee)
People I absolutely cannot stand:
- Miriam Yeung
- Boy'z
- F.I.R. (Sorry, they just really sicken me)
- Cookies
- Kelly Chen. She was okay 5 years ago but now she's just a desperate "legend" that's lost her popularity
- F4. Oh please.
- Edison. This guy cannot sing, final, period, end of story.
Even though lately I've been listening to more Kpop. =s
Ahh yes the classics are the best.

I think Gillian is way prettier than Charlene..

Hmm I like Faye Wonggggggggggggggggg XD

Jay Chou and Leo Ku! Both of them actually have SOME talent!
I get the vibe that most asian singers are only popular because of their looks and they have no talent whatsoever... you hear them sing live and you never want to hear them again
Don't like that!

i dislike chinese songs. (but i'm a chinese)
most of the songs by new artists are ...erm...rubbish. there are only three or four ppl composed the songs, it's all the songs! and the artists' work is to sing them.
no talent.
and they won't sing in live. the will only play the music and make some mouth gesture.etc. also, they record the song by every word, not the whole song.
no talent.
sori if i've offend anyone who like chinese songs.
BUT the older one are much better, like Kelly Chan.

Chinese music is all right up to a certain point. Mandarin music is generally ok, they've got a bit of everything, punk, pop, rock, metal etc. However Cantanese music is the type which I really hate, no offence, I am Chinese myself, I am in fact a British Born Chinese, my parents were from Hong Kong, and I personally think that Cantonese music really lacks the rock genre but that's not it. The thing that has really crumpled the Cantonese music industry are all the new artists these days, they have no talent whatsoever, it's all so fake and commercial. The people with the talent seem to disappear off now. Female artists nowadays like Fiona Sit, 吳日言(Yan Ng) and 官恩娜 Ella Koon all seem to carry out very similar voices, in Britain here we refer to their voices as Hong Kong voices (香港聲), in other words their voices seem to sound like the everyday Hong Kong high school girl. When they sing live it's even worse, you can barely hear them, and their pronounciations in some of their lyrics are horrendous, some of them sound like they haven't even bothered to learn their own language, though that may be harsh but it is my opinion. As for the male artists, they come and go like a production plant, many of them have only done one music video, and then they seem to disintegrate. I never even bother to learn their names. As for English names in the Chinese Music industry, names like Deep Ng, Yumiko etc aren't even names, not to mention half the population of high school girls in Hong Kong are called YoYo. Despite all this, Cantonese music have the likes of Joey Yung, 何韻詩 (Hocc!), Jade Kwan, Leo Ku, Edmund Leung etc to keep the Hong Kong Music industry alive. From listening to their songs, they all have unique voices- and the best thing about their voices is that it is strong, they literally have something called the singing voice, they are the ones best suited for live music. Even in their early days, their voices are still better than those teen popstars today, you can really tell if someone can sing or not. The artists who'd I really like to see more of in the future are Hins Cheung, Hocc, Jade Kwan, Joey Yung, Deep Ng (tough a crappy name, he can sing and play an instrument!) and Nicholas Tse (though he may be quite an unlikeable person, his voice and guitaring abilities should not be wasted.) I really do think that Hong Kong should promote more rock music, it makes Cantonese music more likeable.

Jay Chou- Hair Like SnowFa Ru Xue.

Lemme update my list, mmkay?
- Jay Chou. Lovelovelovelovelove. His voice (and, uh, appearance) is mediocre, I suppose, in comparison to his lovely melodies and sweet lyrics. But I love this guy. 枫, 黑色毛衣, anyone?
- Alex Wang. His voice...his hotness...his songs...they're freaking amazing.
- David Tao. I love his uber sad cry-in-the-corner songs, like 寂寞的季節 and Sha Tan. I love his voice, too.
- Leo Ku. He's made an AMAZING comeback after all those years shooting dramas. Nice to listen to when you're feeling pop-y and mainstream.
- Eason Chan. His album, U-87 was fantastic. He's always full of variety, character and personality, and I love that.
- Joey Yung. Truly one of the best right now. I like her image change, and she's one of the only Hong Kong female singers nowadays that can sing. Actually sing, I mean. Miriam Yeung pales in comparison.
- Denise Ho. I love her for being a little different, for adding some variety to the HK music scene.
- Janice Wai. Or Wei. Or something.... One of my favourite among newcomers. Her voice is really strong, and I like her R&B undertones. Plus, her English is to die for.
- Justin...something or another. The guy with the hat. Yeah. I love his voice. Also one of my favs among newcomers
- I don't care what you people say, I love Twins. They're one of the only "idol" groups that I can stand, and well, love.
-Hacken Lee, Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung. Well there's not really much to say, they're classics.
And now for my dislike list.
- at17. I really cannot stand them. Oh mah gaw. Words are not capable of explaining.
- Yan, Krusty, etc. Aka "Silly Thing". I really do not like them, and I hate how East Touch and Milk magazine make such huge deals about them and their record company.
- Alex Fong and his orgies with Cookies members. Enough with the duets, already. They're getting worse and worse, especially the one with Theresa. Oh dear god.
- Miriam Yeung. I can admire Joey Yung not for her song writing or lyric writing ability, but for her amazing ability at her job as a singer. Miriam Yeung...I don't get it. She's not pretty, so she's not in the idol category. She can't even sing, either, so she's not even in the other category. I just don't like her. She needs to thank her record company - badly - for giving her amazingly catchy songs.
I maybe will edit this later. =]
