iheartsimba
I guess a decent one is ok. But I have some really cute clothes that I can't wear to school because of that >.<

My schools stupid when it comes to dress code, they tried to ban PINK last year. Because it could be a gang symbol? o_0
SandRAWRz
liek the dress code helps you focus more in school than guys looking at girls skirts
but we also should wear whatever we want b/c it represents who we are
super_grover08
this is the dress code that they're going to have at our school next year:

The shirts can have collars or no collars, buttons or no buttons, short or long sleeves with logos no larger that 2 square inches. Shirts may remained untucked, however, they may not be longer that thumb-length when the student is standing up straight. The six approved colors for next year are: red, white, black, navy blue, gray, and/or pink. THESE ARE THE ONLY COLORS THAT STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO WEAR.

isnt that total BS.

dang .. that sucks !! .. why ?!?! ..

tha only thing i hate .. is no hats inside tha building .. shifty.gif ..
misoshiru
well at least you DO have a variety of tops rolleyes.gif

think of other dress codes where you don't have a choice. anyways, this should be called a UNIFORM not a dress code.

our school has a dress code anyways. girls aren't allowed to show midriff, can't wear spaghetti straps, tube tops, halters, one shoulder tops unless they have a jacket on at all times. we are not allowed to show our back. guys are not allowed to sag their pants. and we're all not allowed to wear flip flops.

the only part of this our school follows is the "spaghetti strap, tube tops, etc." part.
Ballpointpencil
Depends on the dress code. We have some silly rules in ours like you must wear a belt if you have belt loops in your pants. XD For the most part though, I wish the dress code was enforced better, because I personally don't like seeing people's body parts hanging out when I am trying to do schoolwork. :P
miss barnes
we have a dress code at school but, its not bad. jus the typical stuff:
no shirt skirts/shorts
no showing midriff
no major cleavage
shoulders have to be covered
etc
xoxvietbabyy
Umm no, and yes. Because I hate seeing peoples skin that is not needed to be shown. And I hate how some people get away with things at my school and it is not fair, like showing shoulders. Yes because then no one who is very skin-showy would come to school in a mini and a tube, that shows half their stomach.
inthemudhole
I believe that there definitely should be a dress code in schools and in workplaces. Clothing can be distracting, and that's the last thing you want when you're trying to accomplish something.

But, on the other hand, I don't think it should be so over-the-top that they're controlling your sense of "style" completely.
pyrochick19770
It doesn't matter much to me at times.
But sometimes it just PISSES me off about tucking in our freaking uniform shirts into our uniform skirts...
& shoe color rule, my gosh.
Also, no shorts PERIOD on free dress days, WTF is that?!

AND I CAN'T KEEP MY HAIR COLOR!! cry.gif
suddenly she
hatehatehate.
no destroyed jeans. or as they'd probably say, "jeans with abrasions."
and no tank tops, but i never wear them anyway.
not_your_average
^ Ugh, same here. No destroyed jeans.

But we have a relatively lenient dress code at my school.
maia_dc
I remember back in middle school they did this thing where the vice principal walked around with a ruler in the mornings and measured how short girl's shorts were.
Wth...
iced__cappucino
our school banned bandanas. >.< what is this? stypid. cuz it represented "GANGS" ooooooooh loser school.
mai_z
It's good because it keeps people looking decent, and upkeeps an overall sense of decency in the school (aka. not all the popular girls are dressed like prostitutes). Also, it helps keep gang rivalry to a minimum. The banning bandana thing isn't that big of a deal, because it really does affect a lot of people. However, it shouldn't restrict a person's sense of style or individuality. If we wanted that, we'd just all go to uniformed schools.

Key words: and/or. I say, take advantage of that "and" and wear a shirt with all those colors!

wow. i don't really care about dress code unless its something like your school which i think is too extreme.
pinklove_stains
aww crap, you should see out school. NUN STYLE!
i dont care much, but dressing us as nuns is too much.
heyyfrankie
yeah, i don't like dress codes. my last school had one and no one ever followed it because you had the option of getting your parents to write a letter telling the principal to let you not have to wear it. i was literally like one out of the 50 kids that were still in dress code. i was embarrassed. hammer.gif
xcaitlinx
i don't really care about our school's dress code. now that i'm in highschool they don't have a strict dress code. last year, in junior high, we weren't allowed to wear ANYTHING. no flip flops, no short skirts/shorts, no low cut shirts, not even spaghetti straps! thank god i'm out of that school. wacko.gif
ThePrincessofTKD
there has to be a limit with dress code or everyone would be looking all slutty or whatever.
seriouslynikki
Our dress code is having to wear uniforms...black and white and darn navy blue uniforms, so obviously i hate it. Gosh. I absolutely hate it. Talk about feeling dirty after PE.
- shirts have to be tucked in
- no flip flops
- no skirts higher than knees
- no hoodies
- Colors: NAVY BLUE/BLACK and WHITE
- White Shirts/Blouses with a collar.
- Navy Blue/Black Pants, Shorts, or Skirts
- Coats/Jackets/Sweaters/Sweatshirts/ are to be one of the colors above.

I despise my school. _dry.gif
Hell-Rell
Are dress code ain't that but it still sucks.

White T-shirt
Black/Blue/Khaki-Pants/Skirts
No designs on the pants either.
salcha
Totally. I don't want to see a guy's ass hanging out of his boxers...or have girls show waaay too much skin.

WOOHOO! 3000TH POSTSSSSSSSSS. Took me a while.
Crich323
I don't really care. My school doesn't have that bad of a dress code.
Kontroll
Yeah. Mine neither. All we have to wear is either a blue or white button down shirt, and grey pants. It was worse last year cause we were made to wear ties. It wasn't bad, but just a hastle to remember it everyday. Glad school is almost out. SCHOOOOOOLLLLLLSSS OUT FOR SUMMER! SCHOOOOOOOLLLLLLS OUT FOREVER!
Gypsy Eyes
haha that really sucks.

We just can't wear anything supporting drinking, drugs, or anything racist or sexist.
jenn_jenny
whistling.gif doesnt matter at all.
pinksharpiex
I'm ok with the dress code because I could understand why they wouldn't want anyone dressing like a slut, but it angers me when I can't wear a band shirt because apparently it has "negative statements."
NERDFACE™
okay.
I seriousely never had a dress code "problem" untill I moved to Tennessee.
it pisses me off, because I'm the only kid they ever catch.
I like wearing my shirts.
okay.
is it a crime?
no.
all my shirts are either band shirts,a tim burton movie shirt,or just have a rad picture that I liked.
I can't wear them unless I wanna get in trouble.
well psh,
I never cared.
so obviousely the prinicpal hated me most.
I always refused to tuck it in.
I always wore a belt though,
becuase I like my belts.
I go to a school where the entire population of students are the same.
they shop at the same stores,
the have the same favorite band.
it's like clones everywhere.
god forbid a kid like me walk through those doors.
they made FIVE new rules of dress code BECAUSE half of what they were telling me wasn't writtien in the agenda book, and technically I was at liberty to where the things I wanted to wear.
.....those assfucks.
_sarcastic_
we have a dress code but not alot of people follow it
pinacoolada
dress codes are good because it prevents all those sluts from wearing bikini tops close to summer..people did that last year so they had to make adjustments when it came to dress codes.
xlilaznchickx
i guess dress code is ok..sumtimes i hate it....but like it is like helping..like sum ppl dont have lots of clothes..and if they wear uniform..its just uniform and everyone is wearing that and stuff...so i guess its ok..
PrincessAda
My school doesn`t really care as long as skirts are only 2 inches above the knee and shirts don`t show much.
nyctophiliac
I actually don't think dress codes are that terrible
it'd be awesome to see people dressed nicely
not tight tight shirts and lowww skirts
and baggy clothes
ughhh
pinayprincess
i hate it
BrokenDream
Hmm. Well some of my school's dress code is alright. 'Cept some are just plain stupid. I'll name the ones I actually like:

1) No short mini-skirts for the girls/No short shorts for the girls
Thank God. I hate those slutty short mini-skirts and those short shorts.

2) No..sagging? (That's what it's called? When guys let their pants to see their underwear?)
I hate it personally. I love this rule. They have to wear a belt too haha! laugh.gif This sucks for the guys.

There is alot more that I love. But I do hate some of the rules:

1) No hats.
Like ooomg like some 13-year-old girl/boy is gonna have drugs or something in their hat. Oh yeah. I personally adore hats and I wear them sometimes. I can't wear them because of this stupid rule.

2) No t-shirts with marker writing on them.
Wdf? Why not? This rule was pointless.

3) No torn jeans. Not even little bitty holes.
I don't understand this. Why not? Dang, might as well ban blue t-shirts. If you do, I will hate you. Blue is my favorite color fyi. :]

I hate alot more. I think I explained myself well enough.
angelrevelation
it depends... if the dress code's not TOO restricting, it's fine with me. and it's nice to know that schools are promoting modesty. but i wish we were allowed to wear spaghetti straps though, cuz sometimes it gets wayyy too hot.

what really bugged me once was how this school supervisor lady made my friend change once because her shirt said 'blondes do it better', when everyone (but that lady) knew it wasn't suggestive.
pedophile
^ lol wow, I wonder what that lady was thinking.

Anyways, dress codes wouldn't be so bad if most schools didn't make them so damn strict.
n_Oodles
I want a school uniform...I dont like picking out clothes in the morning. Our school isnt that strict on clothes. We just cant wear gang symbolic shirts and cant wear anything too revealing
AngelinaTaylor
I hate strict dress codes or uniforms. You're forced to stay there for 6-7 hours of your time, and they TELL you what to wear, too? I mean, why can't they just say "dress appropriate", and that's it?

They're banning freedom of expression hammer.gif
ichigofan
Most schools have dressed codes, basically for girls- dont look slutty and for guys- no cursing or Xrated material on shirts etc.. I dont mind dress codes
Looow

SAME HEREEE.

Now at school, we don't relaly got a dress code so I don't give a shit.
no-name
I swore there was a topic like this already.

I don't mind it. My school dress code is not very strict
clarity
I dress as I want to.
aka. screw the dress codes.
Blank-OuT
I don't really mind it, it's not bad I guess. I always hear my friends complaining about uniform all the time though. If I went to public school I think I'd run outta clothes to wear and mix up, cus you know people would be like, "Hey, didn't you wear that yesterday?" So yeah, that's one of the reasons why I don't mind it lol.
This Confession
I've never had a problem with the dress codes.
I never wear shorts or like mini skirts and if I do i usually have leggings under them..

I wear jeans and t-shirt all the time as well.
jue
I never had to follow a dress code so i don't know.
synthase
i guess i dont really care. Maybe its because i dont really wear anything against the dress code
