To answer that...me and my mother don't get along very well.....so I keep all of my personal matters to myself, but my mom always sees me hanging around girls because 99% of my friends are females...but when I bring one over and she stays for more than 2 hours...my mom catches on ^_^. No need to say anything...

but if she asks then I say "I'm seeing her."

Uh I didn't exactly tell them first, I asked them then told them:

Me: Mom can I have a bf?
Mom: No why?
Me: Oh because I have one
Mom: Oh

My parents still dont approve of me dating and I am 20!!!! haha...its funny...they dont want their little girl to grow up but I am grown...because of that I only tell them when I am in a serious relationship. Usually they dont like but eventually they warm up

My friend and I planned it out. We went into my room where my mom was and I just kinda stood there. Then my friend was just like "SHE HAS A BOYFRIEND!" that was funny.

yes it is a good question...my parents originally told me that i can't date until i finish college...but since they found out i had a boyfriend (they guessed) they accepted it little by little. they occasionally b*tch about how i'm messing up in school because of him but i know they're okay about it.

they told me that i have to marry/date a rich, chinese boy who can speak chinese...it's funny, i never wanted to date someone like that because they wanted me to so i dated other races...but i ended up with what they wanted

Hah, same thing sorta happened to me. My parents want my to marry a chinese man, but I don't, so I've dated a white guy. But my current boyfriend is Chinese hah.
Well, I've never really told them that I had a boyfriend. They just kinda deduced it themselves. For my first boyfriend, I worked with him on a project and then couldn't stop talking to him, so they kinda assumed. For my current boyfriend, they met him when we were on a date , and they weren't supposed to know about him...

I never had a girlfriend, but my sister has a boyfriend. I asked her...

My mom sorta "found out". one dayy.. my bf and I were sitting out on the lawn infront of my house.. just chillin & talkin.. then my mom came home. LOL` =)

Well...when I went out w/ my bf (now my ex) last year, I didn't really tell her...but she deduced it from the amount of time I would talk to him on the phone, online and all those times I supposedly went to a friends house to finish one project or another.

My Mom didn't really set a limit on when I can get a boyfriend...ironically she is the one who asked me when I think I should be able to get a boyfriend.

Mom: When do you think it's appropriate to get a boyfriend?
Me: Grade 12-ish/first year University
Mom: Reasonable enough. So that's when you're gonna get one?
Me:...maybe?

Hahaha...well...I suggest taht you just tell her right off the bat. Just ask her what she thinks is the appropriate age and what does she think if you got one. Good luck!

haha..my first bf that they knew about..i walked in my moms room and told her how my day was ((cos i always did that)) and all quick i was like..

we had a test, spanish was boring, ate lunch, i have a boyfriend, we had a sub in english, blah blah blah..then i walked out

then she called me back in and was like aww your first bf?? who??

and that was it..i was really nervous cos i was "too young" to have a bf at the time..but suprisingly my mom was cool with it =)

a few months ago, my mom and i had a conversation that went somewhere along the lines of this:
mom - do you have a bf?
me - no...why?
mom - because you shouldn't have a bf at this age
me - ok..i know, you've told me this.
mom - but if you get a bf, you have to tell me ok?
me - don't you believe me? i dont have a bf.
mom - i just dont want to be the last person to know.

I think I just out and told her.

Me: Hey Mom, Kevin asked me out this morning.
Mom: What did you say?
Me: Yes.
Mom: That's nice. When can he come over for dinner?

I thinkit was more of her asking me if I did. Cuz when u start calling a guy, and he starts calling you 24-7, and u spend all of your free time with him, its kinda obvious haha. But she also had a habit of thinking some of my best friends (I like guy friends better) were my boyfriends too. so yeah. I just never tlaked about it, it just sort of came to be. I still dont tell her, she asks a lot of question, and I don't lie, I always tell her the truth. so yeah.

well if thats the case, I dont think you really need to worry about it. It shoe already knows, when the time comes she'll ask. I mean, dont hide it from her, just dont worry about beign like MOM I HAVE A BOYFRIEND!!!

I'm not sure. My friend used to tell by starting with something like 'Look I know you'll be surprised by blahblahblah' and keep going by saying you will be with your bf/gf BUT you promise you will keep up with your studies/sports/whatever your parents expect from you. It always works that way. Just plainly suck up to them and they'll be happy about whatever you do.

My friend's parents are extremely strict and she tried this way and it works all the time.

me: im going out with dan
mom: okay. don't get raped.

--a few weeks later--

me: i'm going out with jigesh
mom: okay. don't get raped.

I snuck around for the first two months or so, but my parents caught on after our first 'date' and after he had called our house to talk to me so many times.

So one day, they just asked me how well I knew Alec, and I simply told them that we had been 'going out' for a few months already.

i'm just afraid of their reaction, since it's a long distance relationship, and they actually know this guy (family friend)

when i was young i told them i would never date him even if i was paid (we argued alot) and now look.

Well...I only told my mum at first. It went somewhere along the lines like this.

Mom:I have to meet him, and he better not be dating you for your money.

Yup, and then my grandma found out because he hugged me lots. Then my aunt, family friends, and then MY DAD.

My family talks about him and makes fun of him now. My dad acknowledges the relationship and all and tries to be nice, but he still sounds like he's going to castrate my bf...

lol with Jeremy and telling my mom, i remember we were sitting on the couch watching tv, and i was neglecting to tell her for a while, thinking of all the different ways i should say it. Then out of nowhere I just kinda blankly said, "you know, jeremy's my boyfriend".

and she just kinda looked at me...silence. and more silence. And the we kept watching tv, lol it was ackward. But i was glad i told her. But dun worry, she loves him now :)
