That happened to me once. I was trying to get it from my old computer to my laptop. If you make any copies of Photoshop it doesn't work, etc. Basically if you pirate it from another copy, etc, it won't work.

Clear out some uneeded files on your comp.
Your Photoshop may not have enough memory space to even start. -shrug- Not that I can talk... I eat up all my memory wth music files.

Maybe your scan disks are full.
XLilAznGrl592X
Apr 25 2005, 10:41 PM
question: what is a scan disc? does it have to do anything with brushes since i just put on a LOT of brushes yesterday and how do u clear the scan discs?
YourSuperior
Apr 25 2005, 10:59 PM
Scan disks is when you have TOO much stuff on your computer. Which means you either need to delete some of your files or you need to clean your WHOLE computer. Scan disks can also be full when you have TOO many photoshop windows open.

Scan disks are full when your Photoshop is using too much memory. It can't be that because her Photoshop doesn't even open and at default, the preference is a reasonable amount of space for the scan disk.
Are you sure you're clicking on the application? The one that ends with a .exe? Sorry, I know it's a stupid question.

Apr 26 2005, 09:29 PM
Reformat your computer.
This is on the assumption that you got Photoshop legally.... You would install it again trough the disk.

Apr 26 2005, 09:39 PM
*hits head on table* i didnt download it from a site im using my cousins photoshop disk and u sure reformatting it will work? wut does assumption mean? i have a low vocabulary...

Apr 26 2005, 09:43 PM
I figured as much. Your Photoshop won't open because the activation code for the disk has already been used. I believe that you can't use the disk more than once....

Whoa! I've never seen that message before. What's "Scratch Windows"?
XLilAznGrl592X
Apr 27 2005, 08:13 PM
well, thats my question lol it said something about a volume or something... i havent changed anything to the computer lately excepr for download like a program or delete one...
mona lisa
Apr 27 2005, 09:24 PM
I used to get that message. But what happened was that Photoshop still opened, I just got that message whenever I opened. Then I just set the preferences to default. The Scratch Disk has to do with the amount of memory that Photoshop can use while it is open.

You know my name.
It doesn't matter how much stuff you delete. When you open a program, it takes up a certain amount of memory while your computer is still on, but with Photoshop, it always changes. What did at first was uninstalling it and removing every single file relating to Photoshop (not the images, but in the Program Folder). Then I installed it again.

It might be conflicting with something... possibly from all the reinstallations. I'm good at computers... and that message even confused me.
