first of all, your going to learn how to use a tampon eventually so this might be a good itme to start
tampons are awseome, I never use pads anymore
as for the period flow stopping in water I seriusly doubt that

maybe you should look ti up on google...I would except this is a shared comp so I dont' want one of my brothers coming on and looking at the recent entries in google and finding "period stopping in water" written there

go in the pool and don't worry about it. i went in the water before with my period, and you couldn't tell i was on my period. or you could try asking your mom or someone else how to wear a tampon.

im not sure, but my sister told me that it stops cause she accidently did it once, & it didnt leak.
but i wouldnt try `cause im not much of a risk taker & the fact that if it was suddenly red water all around you in the pool, that would really suck.

Apr 16 2005, 05:39 PM
yah, its true..but liek the second u get out ur screwed so u have to like run to a towel?? haha.. but like if its REALLY heavy it will probably still leak a little..

well, if your on your period your not sposed to take baths because blood will flow and it will also make your period worse, so i dont see how this is different, use a tampon

if you just got your period you can't use a tampom....so if this ins't like your maybe 5th time od ur period then you can use a tampon
i don't think water stops it...iot just washes it away from ur personal area...then after washed away to get dried then there is nothing to wash away so it comes out

May 17 2005, 03:49 PM
omg
haven't any of you taken a science course?? your period can't flow in water because the pressure of the water keeps it in! and dewd, there's no gravity in the water, so if you were standing in the pool, it doesn't necessarily have to flow downward... it would just sorta... float inside you, i guess.
whoa, i think i just made a breakthrough... lol, i was just playing around with what i have learned in chem... can't believe it actually makes sense...
iheartsimba
May 17 2005, 04:14 PM
No, water does not make your period instantly stop..because if you get in iwth some redness following you..that's embarrising..If you plan on getting in the pool...I suggest you read the instructions inside tampon boxes.

May 17 2005, 06:42 PM
I was curious about this, so I asked my mom (she is an OBGYN, she would know right?).
It does NOT stop in water. You can tell if you are taking a bath, because their is only a little bit of water, but in a pool it diffuses out into all the water and isn't very apparent.

Uh, no. Tampons are perfectly healthy if you use them correctly. There is a VERY slim chance of TSS, but that is extremely rare.

My period started, but there was a pool party, so I thought the water would stop the flow of blood. I was wrong. It was all over my bathing suit and it was disgusting. -____-; Everyone was staring at me. I was a bloody mess. Tampons are there for a reason. And they're mainly there for when you go swimming! Use them when they're needed and don't make the mistake I did.

-jEsS- Acutally, I learned in sex ed when I was in the sixth grade that going in the pool with a tampon is the only way to not get a mess everywhere. Yknow what I mean. If you use pads, it won't stop the flow. It will just get a mess everywhere.
I don't know about your friends, but they might be either lying or have special freaky powers.

Jul 28 2005, 02:42 PM
Hey you all,
It's a late post but I wanted to add a comment. First, I'll be blunt. Don't wear just a pad or nothing at all in the pool. That's just nasty. Be thoughtful, at least. What would you say if somebody was leaking poop "just a little" and wanted to swim in your pool???? You'd want him or her to plug it up before getting in. Sure, a period is totally natural and the blood won't hurt anything but it does NOT stop completely and you cannot control that one embarrassing time when a little extra comes out at once, probably as soon as you stand up after getting out.

Do you REALLY want to be caught like that? You would be horrified. Wear a tampon and if you don't know how, practice when you're alone and relaxed (and on your period) and you will get the hang of it. The box, at least for me, didn't help as much and I definitely didn't want any "help". You'll know it's done right when you can forget it's there.
See ya!

Just wear a tampon, and be sure to be careful when you get out. Simple as that.
