Insider wrote an article about the scenario of trading Kobe Bryant. It was an interesting read, and before anyone crucifies this thread, make sure you read it with an open mind.
Scenario 1 - Chicago Bulls
Lakers get Tyson Chandler or Eddy Curry, Erick Piatkowski, Othella Harrington & Ben Gordon
Meh, this ones outta the question, bulls had a chance at him during summer and realized they would have too trade too many of their core players so bleh
Scenario 2 - Memphis Grizzlies
Lakers get Stromile Swift, Mike Miller, James Posery, & Earl Watson
A big man like Swift or maybe Miller can really help the lakers out a lot
Scenario 3 - Seattle Supersonics
Lakers get Ray Allen & Radman
Ray Allen, seems like a good trade but why trade an all star for a lower tier player? =/
Scenario 4 - Los Angeles Clippers
Lakers get Corey Maggette, Chris Wilcox, & Marko Jaric
You have Maggette who is a good defender like Kobe, and can score (not quite like Kobe). You also have the keys to the deal...two young players. Chris Wilcox and Marko Jaric are two potential stars and are young and can be molded into good players. Give them time hopefully they'll pay off big.
Keep in mind that these are just RUMORS. The Lakers MUST have learned their lesson of trading a Superstar for a few lower tier players.
Personally, I hate this idea period. No Kobe trade. Trade Lamar and Caron.
Trading Kobe is a ridiculous idea. What is the basis for a trade. That they aren't going to make the playoffs? They have a losing record? They are horrible defensively? None of this is Kobe's fault... Kobe has been doing everything this year. In fact he has also tried everything to get this team to win.
He simply does not have the supporting cast that he needs in order for the Lakers to win. Seriously the Shaq trade was trash we should have shopped around longer and got something better than a broken bloated and untradable contract (Brian Grant), a small forward who only knows how to shoot (Caron Butler), and a player that needs the ball in his hands as much as Kobe (Lamar Odom). These players are nowhere near equal value of Shaq and the Lakers have suffered because of it. We then follow up that disaster by acquiring Chucky Atkins who can't play D and also needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Follow this up with Vlade Divac not playing Karl Malone not resigning and Devon George being injured for the entire year and you get those results.
So the real question should be who can we trade/draft in order to build around Kobe and reclaim our crown.
Besides Kobe has a no trade clause anyway, we would never get anything near equal value for him, and all the trade possibilities are crap anyway.
Besides, in #8's own words: "I'm a Laker for life"
