Full Version: in a relationship, does age matter?

I'm not saying like 20 years of difference between the guy and the girl, but let's say a 17 year old girl and 15 year old guy, just asking. Share opinions.
AngelicEyz00
Age shouldn't matter. It's just that for me, I think that it's more common for a guy to be older. But it really doesn't matter. "Age is just a #"

age SHOULDNT matter but then again.. we all say that and sometimes thats the reason why ppl dont get togheter... 17 and 15 isnt that big of a difference lol i thinkm thats ok
krnxswat
17 and 15 is only two years different.

Let's put it this way, 5 years is alot when you're talking about people who are 20 and 15, but it really shouldn't matter when theyre 25-30. You know?

Age does matter, despite what anyone says, it makes a difference...I've gone out with a 30 year old (10 years my age diff) and we just didn't have enough in common and didn't like doing the same things... And I've gone out with a 17 year old...And it was illegal...And everyone made a big deal out of it... Even tho it was only 3 years difference.

In a case where both parties are under 18 and above 14 i don't think its too big a deal...As long as you both like each other...

Mai cousin's a year younger than his gf(who btw, is a very close friend of mine). And they never formally announced their relationship to the public til now, and they've been together for like 3 years or so. They were a bit uncomfortable to tell us they were going out, mai friend was graduating, and mai cousin was well.. a junior, and they thought that they would get unappreciative looks and comments if we knew it. But honestly, age doesnt matter. And yah, at times couples who accept that fact in their relationships don't work but its mostly because they've never really completely "worked" for each other. As long as they do love each other, and it isn't just the face(more than the kissable lips or the gummy kisses xD *eeewww*) anything is possible. My close aunt is about 3 years older than her husband, and so far, after years of marriage, they've been quite successful(there were a few problems here and there of course). My aunt's that kind of girl who usually needs someone to help her with decisions(she sees something nice and shiny, she's tempted to buy it blink.gif ) but is a complete neat freak while mai uncle's the type of guy who knows how to make decisions(he's very good at bargains too o.o;;) and has a hard time cleaning up for himself(to mention a few characteristics). So.. they quite match. Overall, it's the chemistry between two people that matters ^.^

interesting ideas, but some people, and i mean girls don't go out with younger guys....hmmmm _dry.gif

omgsh.. ONLY 3 YEARS and they made a big deal?? psh~ screw them :P

ooo wanna noe why girls go out with older guys, not younger? girls' are 4 years older metally than guys [i think] so mayb thats why .. that happens..?
dani41790
umm 17 n 15 isnt a big age difference. i sae ish ok
SeoulJah4God
Yea i say as long as they in the same tens. Like 10+12 or 15+18. Not 20+50 laugh.gif
galilea
actually if the girl is 17 and the guy is fifteen...well...guys tend to be less mature in general. And if you have a fifteen year old guy and a girl that is already two years older than him....

I just can see that you would have some problems, but not in all cases, mind you. But usually it is true.

I am 17 and I wouldn't want to date a guy that was two years younger than me, just because guys tend to mature slower. I am friends with a ton of guys that are a couple of years younger, so I know what i am talking about.
faithin_felix
guys less matured eh?

but when it's a guy 24 and a girl 27, is that ok?
krnxswat
Girls may mature earlier than guys, but they stop upto a certain point, where as guys would continue to mature.

Just my thought.
SeoulJah4God
Yea guys get better and better and they never stop laugh.gif

you know what, it doesnt matter honestly. but when it comes down to it, the maturity level, does not level up what so ever. though they might fall in love with each other, and fall head over heels, but it'll end up with age. age does not matter, but the maturity level is completely different. and when you think about it, it sucks you know.... cause this happened to me, and i'm trying to get over that person.

My nephewss mom is 27 years old (28 on the 13th of April) and she's going out with a 20 year old(or 21) That's a big difference, but no one seems to care or mind. She goes for younger men. I personally go for older guys
Winter
15 and 17 is no biggie. I'm 15 and my BF is 18. I think it all depends on how mature a person is.
redderstarr
at least its not sumone twice as young/old as you.. blink.gif
CEP
2 years? You're worried about 2 years? 2 years is nothing. I mean, to be honest, there's a slim chance that you guys are gonna stay together 'til her graduation anyways right? So just have fun _smile.gif
People marry each other when they're 15 years apart.

Oh, and sorry if I was harsh.

age is just a number if you get along fine than everything is okay, actually i think that the two years different is like perfect hehe just cause my bf's 2 years older than me haha
LuShuZxLaNa
okay so it really doesnt matter if someone is 5 yrs older than you. but what do you guys think about 9+ years?
mai_z
generally, i'd say that age shouldn't matter, especially if you really like each other (y else would u b in a relationship??) but when you're younger....like gr 5-6, 1 or 2 years seems like a big difference, and things like changing skools n stuff kinda sux... but i guess as u get older its not as big of a problem...
cutielilsuga
beyond the age of 16...age shouldn't matter...but your parents may get involved....after high school age is not a problem at all
LQ_Darksoul
I just personally don't think the age difference should be more than 2 years until both parties turn 18...After that, they are more than welcome to date whomever they please...But that's just my thought..Of course I've gone out with girls much younger than me too >.<
lilrocka143
i dont think thats a problem at all... my situation might be a little weird cause he's 18 and im only 14 turning 15 in 2 weeks.. but idk if your in love and u kno it then it shouldn't matter.. thats whut i thynk wink.gif [FONT=Arial][SIZE=1][COLOR=blue]

I don't think that age matters in a relationship. As long as a couple loves each other, it shouldn't matter how old they are. I mean, I would mind going out with a younger or older guy, as long as they respect me and love me for who I am, I'll be happy _smile.gif

everyone may say "age is only a number," but i say age matters. it matters especially if you're like 15 and a guy is 17, or something like that when one or the other or both are under eighteen. if a freshman gurl dates a senoir guy, obviously, there will be differences in both maturity and thought AND what they expect from the relationship. for instance, the gurl could want a mature, good, solid, long-term relationship where as the guy could want a sex-life based relationship that would end quickly or possibly in a night. If a senior girl is dating a freshman guy, it could mean that the girl wants a sexual life, or the gurl is dating the guy because she feels that he is "cute" and like a younger sibling where as the guy really loves the gurl or what not. It may not always be the case, but most relationships with much age difference before 18 have many faults that cause the relationship to be an impossible relationship.
I know a girl who is dating a senior, and she is my age. blink.gif as wierd as it may sound, it does work out for them tho, which proves my case that this does not apply to all relationships. But, of most relationships of a highschool age difference (mainly two or more years) that i know of, it just doesnt work out, or their relationship is just whack. (meaning too based on s3x rather than a 'relationship') so yea.. i say age matters when you are maturing. but after highschool, i think it is fine to date people who have age differences cause by then, you know what kind of relationship you want and what you dont want and so forth. You know if you're being played or if you're playing someone. You noe? blink.gif just my thought. wink.gif
grrfield
dun matter unless you're like 5+ years apart....then thats just gross....

angel-roh
i posted up already.......but...didnt u think about ashton kutcher and demi moore... i think thats disgusting, but for u...it's ok!! i mean 2, 3, or 4 years is ok!!
phatty
i dont think age matters. if 2 ppl like each other then age shouldn't come between them
LatinaLady
i dont hink age matters at all. its just about thepeople and if they like eachother then good if not dont be together.
NawtyLilAznChic
ehh age shouldnt matta but mostly tha older guys uses tha younger grl fa sex, so if u do go out wit sumone older u havta b careful, im 16 n i dated a 21yr old, i always held out on him but he didnt mind so its not in all cases but now im datin sumone who's 18 [19 in may] n hes soo swt, i wuv him so much laugh.gif

i've always dated sumone who was lyk at least 2 yrs older than me, i think grls date older guys cuz it makes us feel safe or sumthin lyk that
ana8
I've to agree..I always prefered guys 2,3 years older than me coz I felt safe with them...Besides the whole sex part that is...
Caitlin
to me its about maturity but then it really all depends.
f00LisH_h3aRt63
like the cliche says..."age ain't nothing but a number". i dont think that it matters what age a person is. but it can matter when one is not of age...illegal. but other than that age isnt a matter.

Theres a law somewhere that allows 3 years difference if your 18 and dating a minor, but you can't engage in sexual activity.

i dont think there r n e datin law at all cuz its stupid, me n my ex were talkin bout it lyk a few weeks ago, he told me that there were no datin laws n that it wouldnt make n e sense if there was, cuz for example, ur 14 n ur datin a 17 yr old, n uve been datin fa a long time etc etc, wat if his 18th birthday rolls by n ur still 14? u havta break up jus cuz one day passed?
anna_banana08
... it shouldn't be the case i guess. but a girl dating a younger guy? i dunno... well that's my opinion.

that is every girls opinion for some reason, mostly because i think for safety, and like ana8 said, the sex part. but its all up to you to trust whoever you want, this arguement is like 50/50, undecided. some still say its just a number, and that is what i'm with.
