Did Conor Oberst from Bright eyes die from an overdose?? my friend told me this, but then i get told they're releasing albums still

ive tried looking it up on their webpages and stuff but i found nothing

edit///: i forgot to mention, my friend told me he died in august 2004 cause of an overdose.. sooo it wouldnt be on the news.. but i still havent found anything online about it. im assuming its a false rumor
