The Painter

Each visit to the mirror
Is a horrifying lie
Being born
That I am forced
To witness everyday

I have become an expert
At painting
Every mask
Every lie
Orchestrating the strokes
So perfectly
That no one can see
The empty shell
That I have become

I have turned
Into the person
That I never wanted to be
A life full of
Shattered images
And broken lies
That were never real
