so say i downloaded photoshop through ares, and i unzipped it into winzip (although of course i didnt, because that might count as piracy whistling.gif), how would i go about installing it from there? because i cant figure it out...
mona lisa
lol riiiight rolleyes.gif j/k
when you unzip it, there should be an installer or setup application ending in .exe. that should take you through the installation process and just follow the steps.
tweeak
either im retarded or theres something wrong, because thats what id done before, too, and i got this (which is the same as i got to unzip it to begin with)

mona lisa
what? so when you click setup, it starts to extract?
tweeak
yes, exactly

i dont think thats the problem, becuase ive tried other programs from ares as well as other more reliable programs and i always get the same thing. i went through everyone of those things and never got to something that actually helped. i clicked the right one, right?

if you have P2P, there should be somewhere where your files go into, right? when i got mine, i just extracted the zip file and opened the file and it had instructions there *shrug*
tweeak
where would the instructions be?
mona lisa
um..well did you extract the files after unzipping it? or is that the same thing? i don't use winzip so i'm not sure.
avalon*
i'm not sure, each photoshop bundle is different, depending on the host. mine came with instructions.

um...they may be the same. i guess ill try that, and look for instructions too
talcumpowder
...... Have you tried using setup.ins? Just wondering, because installation files don't remain on the comp, so I don't think they'd end .exe somehow. But I could be very off.
tweeak
yeah, i tried it and it still doesnt work. it says its going to change internet settings, i clicked ok and nothing happened
ANG33ZY
did you check the folder that it unzipped to
freeflow
dont click setup from winzip ..
open the folder were you zipped it to and then click setup from there ...
tweeak
so extract then click setup there?
freeflow
ok extract all the files to a certain folder on your computer .. like you can make a photoshop folder in your my documents section then use winzip to extract them to there

then you extract them .. then you go to start>>my documents>>w/e the name the folder is
and click setup from there
it should then work
tweeak
yep, ive got it now. thanks so much!

(dont close this yet, mods, im retarded and may require further assistance)

haha.

i thought i heard somewhere photoshop cs isn't compatible with windows 98... or maybe i'm completely wrong.
freeflow
she got photoshop 7.0
tweeak
^yeah, exactly

although this can be closed now, becuase it works. had i just remembered to extract, i couldve been done months ago
satisfied-tom
open the .zip file. if there is a .nfo file in it, then open that .nfo file with the notepad. the .nfo file should have instructions. if there are .iso or .cue files inside the .zip then you need to burn the .iso or .cue onto a cd.
