I think there might be other threads on this, but I only listen to a couple emo bands, and mostly death metal and punk music.

well, there's the obvious: Dashboard Confessional and Something Corporate. hmm. ::thinking:: Taking Back Sunday, Further Seems Forever, The Promise Ring, Brand New, Thrice, and Bright Eyes... among others...

The music is alright, but I prefer rock

Emo!! =] Awesome. Soco and TBS for sure. Does Yellowcard count as emo?..I like them though. And there's Thrice, Finch, The Promise Ring, The Starting Line, and a bunch of others. And screamo is awesome too, especially for you know, screaming to LoL...=]

Something Corporate is probably my favorite emo band, but for the most part I like the pop-punk, upbeat stuff. I've also currently been obsessed with Cheap Trick, I found my live at Budokan cd today

Hmm Finch does some screamo...Like in "What It Is To Burn." Other emo/screamo bands I like definately include The Beautiful Mistake and Matchbook Romance, emocore man LoL. Thursday and Rufio too. I used to not like Rufio but they grew on me. Blink-182 is great but they're very quote mainstream endquote, and I don't know, maybe being like that kind of makes them mold their music to what people want...But then again who's to say that other bands don't? None the less Blink is still awesome.

LoL Good question, how would a person define emo? I mean...I've always thought of it as short for "emotion," and emo is filled with alotta emotion. Just...It has guitar and sounds rock-ish except it talks about breaking up and leaving and stuff...Sort of.

I've been on an "emo" fix myself recentely... and I use the term "emo" very loosely, seeing as how the bands listed above are not "emo" at all. But yeah, some of those bands listed aren't bad.

i heart emo music too but i hate the really slow acoustic emo ones. the one where theyre EXTREMELY emo. lol. the emo bands i like are underground so you guys wont really know them even if i mentioned them. one of the mainstreams one i'd have to say taking back sunday.

Me and my friends pretty much consider all rock, just rock.. but metal, of course, is seperated.

anyway, i like the typical ones, like death from above 1979, mars volta, at the drive in, blah blah blah. and unpopular emo stuff too, like death of a wilted rose, crying kids, and emo the lawn.
oh yeah and i hate it when ppl actually consider greenday, good charlotte, and simple plan to be emo. get a life and know your damn music, you tasteless bitches.

^ i always thought death from above 1979 was just a semi-hardcore dance punk band. even their lyrics are just... "fun". maybe i'm missing something.
