There is never a "right" or definite age in which everyone should lose their virginity.

I am not a religious person, I am actually atheist, so I don't go for the "wait till you're married" stuff.

I just think that the person should be emotionally stable for that kind of step.

I lost my virginity at the age of 16 and I do not regret it all. I lost my virginity to the guy that I was in love with. Though things did not work out as we had planned, we still enjoyed every moment that we shared and I didn't regret it.

If someone is just having sex, to "have sex" or be "cool," then they are not emotionally ready for sex.

Just because according to the laws you are an "adult" at the age of 18 (16) it does not mean that you are ready for that kind of commitment. The government just picked an age and decided that that's when one would be called an "adult." The age of 18 means absolutely nothing.

I dont think you should pick an age to have sex. Just when you find the right & special one that you want to share yourself with & devote yourself to then comes sex. & not just a 2 weeker relationship not even 3 months, a relationship you know will last, but im not saying go have sex when your 13-14 because you think you found the "one". actually, it depends on where you are....for the most part, yes, it is 18, but here in TX, it is 17, which means that legally, i could have sex in only a few months....but, again, i am waiting until marriage...

in some places is is 16, and if i remember correctly, i remember hearing one place as low as 14...

I completly agree with Amber. Although, I never mentioned this in the past, I actually REGRET my first time and wish I waited (not for marriage but for the right guy). I felt 'obliged' to do it. I felt dirty and wanted to erase every memory of it so I had sex with as many people as I could. Sex is / should be something special.
It's much more easy for you virgins to go on a date knowing fully well that you aren't going to get laid. It's not easy for me to 'control' myself sometimes.

16-18 seems ok, and I lost my virginity to another virgin, ( she was 15) so it was cool... we really cared about each other, and had no on e else to compare to, so there was no judgements...

She's still a good friend, and we talk regularly. I am fortunate that she is someone that knows me intimately, and we can talk about anything with each other.
