What does the pentacle represent? THere are alot of debates about what the pentacle symbolizes. Some people believe that its the sign of the devil when inverted

Christians believe thats its the sign of jesus on the cross.

From reading the Da Vinci Code, I think the Pentacle was used for the symbolism of females.

One would have to find out where the pentacle originated. I've just researched recently about it and what I've found is that it was used for many different purposes.

In Wicca, the five points represents something different. I knew this like years ago but now I forgot. But to satisfy yours and my own curiousity... I looked it up... ^^
They stand for the five elements: spirit, water, fire, air, earth...
I wish I was Wicca... =(
There are more meanings. I don't feel like typing all of them down...

I've been studying this for Years, and Finally studying has paid off.
The pentacle, from my studies and understandings, is a Pagan or mainly a Wicca, or Witchcraft symbol (yes witches do exsists, just not like those that you see on TV, and in the movies) that symbolizes, when right-side up, Life and gain, and when upside-down, death or banishments. When the pentacle is right-side up, the four bottom points respresent (from my understandings) the four elements, EARTH, FIRE, WATER, and AIR. Now the fifth point (the top point) represents the spirit. The spirit of the Caster.
Now Christians dont or didn't adopt the pentacle, I think what your talking about is "The Star Of David"; i think its a Jewish symbol.
Now also, when the Pentacle is reversed or upside down, it represents Satanism. BUT, since Wiccans dont believe in Satan, the reversed pentacle cannot represent Satan in the Wicca tradition.
Now the whole "Christians, Wiccans and Satans" debate is a whole nother story which is probably in another topic, and i just dont have the time.

I just read that part today.
According to the Da Vinci code, the pentacle is an ancient symbol connected with Paganism. It is, as James said, a symbol of female perfection and beauty, and is synonymous with the goddess Venus. And in the book, Dan Brown wrote that Christians manipulated Paganism and turned it into a Satanic religion, when really it is the worship of Nature...so the Pentacle is a "good" symbol.
Of course...this is all from the book. And there is a load of crap in the book, so don't believe all of that.
