Okay, Not exactly an F but close.. I have a C-
I'm not fit at all. I'm skinny, or so my so-called friends say so. But, I'm still not fit. How do I get into good shape? So I won't get too tired running?
Will drinking milk actually help? Does it only make your bones stronger?
I always get cramps. There's a topic on "crampz" but no one's really helping on that.. someone else made it and I'm to lazy to post the link...
Everytime we have to run laps.. I always have to walk, I have to stop.. and I don't know why.. My stomache is like killing me.. x.x"
So, any tips? >< Because I REALLY need it.
Move this if it doesn't belong here..
or close it if it's already made... but if you close this.. and there's a topic on this already.. PLEASE provide me the links..
Feb 16 2005, 05:53 AM
Practice ... run a few laps every sunday ... it helps.
Feb 16 2005, 06:29 AM
what'd you do to fail?
Feb 16 2005, 06:33 AM
^.. i ran too slow. ><" or so the teacher says.
Feb 16 2005, 06:41 AM
eat a healthy diet (DO NOT SKIP A MEAL) and exercise at least 3 times a week.
Feb 16 2005, 06:46 AM
well seeing that it's PE, ask your PE teacher on advise on what you can do to strength your muscles. As for your question, milk is good for your bones yes but it doesn't necessarily make your muscles strong and that is what is needed when running among other activities. You can do a lot of activities that works your lower body instead of running. For instance, jump roping, swimming, skipping, walking fast, etc. As for those cramps, it's most likely because 1. you're exerting to much pressure on your back which pushes out your abdomen which can cause pain, don't run as if there is a huge block on your chest pulling you down and 2. because you aren't holding your stomach muscles in. Sounds odd, but when running, hold it in. It builds endurance and strength which is what you need to run efficently. Hold it in as if you are almost going to be punched in your stomach. But, remember, don't force yourself to run faster or at all, this can and will cause injury and discomfort
either way, good luck!
Feb 16 2005, 11:17 AM
I hate PE..thats why im waiting until next year so I can take dance or aerobics...dont feel bad I got a C in PE too I think
Feb 16 2005, 11:53 AM
I know how you feel....it's hard for me to run laps too. whenever we have to run laps, I'm the slowest out of everyone, and I have to walk most of the way. Just try runing around your block, then running back. every week, runn a little bit farther.
Feb 16 2005, 12:37 PM
To reduce cramps breahte in through your nose and out through your mouth....Keep on doing this and your cramps won't hurt as much....
Feb 16 2005, 12:42 PM
I don't think that's fair to fail gym because you run too slow. Talk to the school about it.
Feb 16 2005, 02:33 PM
get onto a healthier diet and do daily exercise to build up your stamina, but don't push yourself too hard at first.
Feb 16 2005, 02:36 PM
omigawd, you're gym teacher sucks. i suck at gym., but we're not graded on how many sit-ups or how many laps we can do, but if you wear yoru gym clothes and try.
i never came close to failing gym.
and i don't even try.
sorry, i have no advice. i suck at life.
Feb 16 2005, 03:17 PM
u failed PE..IMAO
Feb 16 2005, 04:37 PM
god i hate the mile run, i feel like i am dying at the end, and i look horrible during it. i don't know, i can't keep up practicing. i guess i'll just do a bunch of extra credits
Feb 16 2005, 04:43 PM
Omfg.. ow. Same with me. I cant do a cartwheel and I need tips on that.
Hm. well.. i just run.. i push myself to do it. I'm a lazy bum, spending my time listening to music, obsessing over boys, on the phone, and on the computer. so.. like.. just.. i guess push yourself. . . try to. =\
In my PE, it doesnt matter if we run slow. Only if we dont stop so we can run slowly.. eh. confusnig myself.
Feb 16 2005, 04:51 PM
yea on those kinduh thinqs im not really good at .. but i still get an A cus the teacher sees me trying my very best and she says thats all that matters .. well thats my teacher, so urs mite be different about that.
Feb 16 2005, 04:52 PM
Try to stay fit, and put forth effort to pass.
Feb 16 2005, 04:56 PM
Eat healthy; and jog sometime during the weekends. It should help you. Practice makes perfect. (or does it not..)
Feb 16 2005, 05:24 PM
I got a C in gym also, But only because I sat out so many times. I always have trouble running.. Alot of times I can barely breathe. I always sat out because I was always getting sick. Its not good for me to run when I have a cold, Because my temp goes up high ^^ Above 102.
Uhm.. Just try running extra? Maybe doing extra "work-outs" at home. I did that for a while. Usually to keep my self skinny, I'll take my Taebo tape n' do that for about 1 hour a day? It helps me! :)

i can't do a cartwheel either.
i lose at life.
Feb 16 2005, 07:13 PM
build up your cardio. Start with little baby steps; don't take giants.
Feb 16 2005, 07:25 PM
you dont fail gym because you're fat or aren't the school's jock type. have you not participated or talked a lot? because i used to do that and thats why my grade was lowered. but now i do my best and participate in volleyball and everything and i get an A usually.
Feb 16 2005, 07:31 PM
-eat healthy food
-keep your mouth closed when you're running 'cause if u don't close your mouth, your throat will be so dry
-when u stop running, put your hands above your head[my teacher told me that]
-just try your best, and remember to exercise everyday! :D
I hope that helps! :D
Feb 16 2005, 07:32 PM
well if you're getting bad cramps... try running on the weekends to build up your strength. stretch before all runs/sports and umm... just push yourself, unless it hurts that bad
you'll get better at it eventually
Feb 16 2005, 07:35 PM
haha, stretch before you run, dont like run sprint just take a nice jog
take deep breaths and keep a steady pace, drink a little bit of water before you run eat healthy like in the morningns get good rest before a big run it takes a while to get your legs worked up :D
Feb 16 2005, 09:33 PM
for running... breathe in through your noes and out through your mouth. pace yourself. and for breakfast that morning, drink a huge glass of milk and eat a banana or 2. trust me, it works. banana's have patassium (sp?) which help you not to cramp up.
Feb 16 2005, 10:38 PM
Well, I get really bad cramps too. (The stomach thingi-ma-jogger-ness).
If you really are "too skinny" eat meat.
Eating fast food is a way to gain weight, BUT VERY UNHEALTHY.
Practice running, don't start out sprinting. Start out slowly jogging so you could use the rest of your stronger energy for the near end of laps.
Hope it helps, and hope everyone else's helps.
Feb 16 2005, 10:52 PM
Drink water.. Loooooooooooooots of water. You know how you have to exercise/stretch before you run the lap ? Do the exercises! Don't half-ass them.
It's okay.. My P. E. teacher in the 7th grade gave me a damned B+ because I received a D- on my mile graph because I didn't COLOR it.
Lame. But yeah.. You should also eat healthy food..
Feb 16 2005, 11:10 PM
practice..and pace ur self when u r running..excersize or play a sport out of skool..
Feb 17 2005, 12:06 AM
If I have "cramps" during PE, this is what I do:
Me: "Ms Mitton, I'm not feeling so well...I think I'm coming down with a cold."
Teacher: "Oh okay, just walk around then. Or sit down. We don't want you to get any sicker!"
Me: "Okay...I'll bring a note next class."
Teacher: "Okay, dear!"
Mind you, that was the lesbian teacher that likes to watch the girls change, so...yeah.
I don't really have to worry about running, so I can't help you much. Last year's PE teacher always told us to breathe in and out of our nose, though. And bring a water bottle along with you when running. Keep a clear mind and don't give yourself negative thoughts, because we are all physically capable of running, but it's our minds that stop us from doing so.
Feb 17 2005, 12:31 AM
My PE teacher told me cramps are caused by lack of water (i'm not sure if that's true). So make sure you drink enough water, and practice running a few laps when you have spare time. It'll help build up your endurance and you won't get as tired. And remember to stretch!
Feb 17 2005, 01:41 PM
Sorry I dont mean to laugh... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Me and my friends were just talking about this... oh well!
Feb 17 2005, 05:53 PM
just run a few more laps everyday..each day increasing maybe a half a mile? and then you'll get more accustomed to the distance and you won't get that much cramps. btw, each time before you run, just eat chocolate..like snickers or something like the sort....
Feb 17 2005, 06:22 PM
Maybe my gym class is just easier. I harldy ever ran, and I had B's all year. Hum.. I'm sorry.. I'm deff not fit, so I can't give advice on that.
Feb 17 2005, 06:44 PM
my teacher is a guy.. ><" and no.. he cares how fast you run.. he cares if you stop.. his grades are on running and pushups/situps and junk.. he doesn't care if you try.. he says trying isn't enough. and i'm gonna fail.. x.x"
everday we run 3 or 4 laps around the school. mostly we do mile runs.. and yeah...
today, i ran. i had a cramp, but i kept going.. really slowly =x but i never stopped.. he doesn't care.. i was like one of the last people.. x.x" so i'm sad.. ><"
i didn't eat lunch today.. i think that helped.. but i'm not sure.. ><
Feb 17 2005, 08:26 PM
you get cramps because you dont get enough oxygen into ur system. Drinking milk just gives calcium, that doesnt do much. im not like an expert or anything but uh you could try gaining some weight and play sports.
btw, what was ur mile time?
....you cant get a c- for running slow...unless ur at some athletic school or soemi;ng.
don't take my advice tho, go here, see if it helps:http://my.webmd.com/content/article/59/66860.htm
hope it helps.
Feb 17 2005, 08:26 PM
Hahaha. That happened to me last year, the teacher gave me a F U. HAHA. >.<
- Practice running laps
- Push yourself
Feb 17 2005, 08:28 PM
heh. dont feel bad. failed pe last yr and im a guy
then again i dont consider dance as a pe class >.< I had to make it up last semester. So had backtoback gym :/
Feb 17 2005, 08:52 PM
i suck at gym....and hate timed mile runs even if i keep a steady pace
don't push yourself...i almost passed out because i pushed myself
my only advice is just try!
Feb 17 2005, 09:01 PM
how to become healthy? get in shape? prevent cramps?
1- to get healthy you have to eaaaatttt right. as in no junk food. lots of water.
2- to get in shape runnnnnnnnnnnn
3- become healthy and they will come more rarley.
Feb 17 2005, 10:38 PM
The weird thing is...
The P.E. teachers make you run, but they're all WAY out of shape than most kids.
Push, push, push.
Push yourself a lil harder each day or week.
No pain, no gain.
You WILL be sore, just keep pushing.
Feb 17 2005, 10:39 PM
Hey I failed PE too had like a C on it
Feb 17 2005, 10:42 PM
Fcuk P.E. and take dance. Less exercising there...and way much easier. You barely sweat...for me anyway. Lol
Feb 18 2005, 12:54 AM
I used to be like you! Then I started drinking milk and yea. Haha now I kind of got chubby
But anyway, drink milk to make your bones stronger. Then try to do some exercises at home... You should try to be active in something besides P.E. It still takes me 15 minutes to run a mile, lol. But a while back it would take me almost 20 minutes! And that's really sad..
Anyway, do something simple.. The more you exercise, the more flexible you get and the more you get used to exercising. Then your body is more active and flexible, so you'll be able to run better. :]
Feb 18 2005, 01:04 AM
Haha yeah I almost
failed P.E. cause my teacher is a big donkey butt...but hey..some people are not meant to be athletic..like me lol..but I am kinda..anywho..I agree with everyone else in here..just exercise a little bit and stretch before doing any physical activity..but come on!! You got like a C- in your class just cause you didn't run fast enough or whatever? How lame! I would have my parents call the school!
Feb 18 2005, 01:45 AM
for our school we have to run on mondays wednesdays and fridays and each day the run is little longer and they are timed. i guess what you should just do is do it slowly in increments. but suppsedly cramps while running shoudlnt really prevent you from running. its just your mind. if you dont think about it and keep working you can last for a little longer. you'll build cardio up no worries! i'm skinny too. but then i play alot of sports.
Feb 18 2005, 01:59 AM
ever since i was a lito kid i hate PE
i actually fail it in elemetary
in high school
instead of PE i took swimming
and i was sick so i took some day off
now i got a ton of detention to make up
and my swimming grade just drop!
Feb 18 2005, 09:32 AM
you have to push yourself. though this coming from someone who does track and has no problem with running, i used to. i had to first try to run, even if you're going really slow. practice out of pe, cuz if thats the only exercise you get, it's not gonna do much. try a after school sport or sumthing, anything to get more exercise. the more u get, the stronger your cardio-vascular (heart/lung) endurance will be.
Feb 18 2005, 11:00 AM
seriously, i wouldn't care if a got a C for PE. okay, maybe a little.
eat regular meals and exercise daily.
