Okay, Not exactly an F but close.. I have a C-
I'm not fit at all. I'm skinny, or so my so-called friends say so. But, I'm still not fit. How do I get into good shape? So I won't get too tired running?
Will drinking milk actually help? Does it only make your bones stronger?
I always get cramps. There's a topic on "crampz" but no one's really helping on that.. someone else made it and I'm to lazy to post the link...
Everytime we have to run laps.. I always have to walk, I have to stop.. and I don't know why.. My stomache is like killing me.. x.x"
So, any tips? >< Because I REALLY need it.
Move this if it doesn't belong here..

or close it if it's already made... but if you close this.. and there's a topic on this already.. PLEASE provide me the links..
thanks..

well seeing that it's PE, ask your PE teacher on advise on what you can do to strength your muscles. As for your question, milk is good for your bones yes but it doesn't necessarily make your muscles strong and that is what is needed when running among other activities. You can do a lot of activities that works your lower body instead of running. For instance, jump roping, swimming, skipping, walking fast, etc. As for those cramps, it's most likely because 1. you're exerting to much pressure on your back which pushes out your abdomen which can cause pain, don't run as if there is a huge block on your chest pulling you down and 2. because you aren't holding your stomach muscles in. Sounds odd, but when running, hold it in. It builds endurance and strength which is what you need to run efficently. Hold it in as if you are almost going to be punched in your stomach. But, remember, don't force yourself to run faster or at all, this can and will cause injury and discomfort

either way, good luck!

I know how you feel....it's hard for me to run laps too. whenever we have to run laps, I'm the slowest out of everyone, and I have to walk most of the way. Just try runing around your block, then running back. every week, runn a little bit farther.

I don't think that's fair to fail gym because you run too slow. Talk to the school about it.

get onto a healthier diet and do daily exercise to build up your stamina, but don't push yourself too hard at first.

Omfg.. ow. Same with me. I cant do a cartwheel and I need tips on that.

Hm. well.. i just run.. i push myself to do it. I'm a lazy bum, spending my time listening to music, obsessing over boys, on the phone, and on the computer. so.. like.. just.. i guess push yourself. . . try to. =\
In my PE, it doesnt matter if we run slow. Only if we dont stop so we can run slowly.. eh. confusnig myself.

I got a C in gym also, But only because I sat out so many times. I always have trouble running.. Alot of times I can barely breathe. I always sat out because I was always getting sick. Its not good for me to run when I have a cold, Because my temp goes up high ^^ Above 102.
Uhm.. Just try running extra? Maybe doing extra "work-outs" at home. I did that for a while. Usually to keep my self skinny, I'll take my Taebo tape n' do that for about 1 hour a day? It helps me! :)

you dont fail gym because you're fat or aren't the school's jock type. have you not participated or talked a lot? because i used to do that and thats why my grade was lowered. but now i do my best and participate in volleyball and everything and i get an A usually.

my suggestion:
-exercise everyday
-eat healthy food
-keep your mouth closed when you're running 'cause if u don't close your mouth, your throat will be so dry
-when u stop running, put your hands above your head[my teacher told me that]
-just try your best, and remember to exercise everyday! :D
I hope that helps! :D

well if you're getting bad cramps... try running on the weekends to build up your strength. stretch before all runs/sports and umm... just push yourself, unless it hurts that bad

you'll get better at it eventually
Baku
Feb 16 2005, 07:35 PM
haha, stretch before you run, dont like run sprint just take a nice jog
take deep breaths and keep a steady pace, drink a little bit of water before you run eat healthy like in the morningns get good rest before a big run it takes a while to get your legs worked up :D

Feb 16 2005, 09:33 PM
for running... breathe in through your noes and out through your mouth. pace yourself. and for breakfast that morning, drink a huge glass of milk and eat a banana or 2. trust me, it works. banana's have patassium (sp?) which help you not to cramp up.

Well, I get really bad cramps too. (The stomach thingi-ma-jogger-ness).
If you really are "too skinny" eat meat.
Eating fast food is a way to gain weight, BUT VERY UNHEALTHY.
So yeah.
Practice running, don't start out sprinting. Start out slowly jogging so you could use the rest of your stronger energy for the near end of laps.
Hope it helps, and hope everyone else's helps.

Drink water.. Loooooooooooooots of water. You know how you have to exercise/stretch before you run the lap ? Do the exercises! Don't half-ass them.
It's okay.. My P. E. teacher in the 7th grade gave me a damned B+ because I received a D- on my mile graph because I didn't COLOR it.
Lame. But yeah.. You should also eat healthy food..

If I have "cramps" during PE, this is what I do:
Me: "Ms Mitton, I'm not feeling so well...I think I'm coming down with a cold."
Teacher: "Oh okay, just walk around then. Or sit down. We don't want you to get any sicker!"
Me: "Okay...I'll bring a note next class."
Teacher: "Okay, dear!"
Mind you, that was the lesbian teacher that likes to watch the girls change, so...yeah.
I don't really have to worry about running, so I can't help you much. Last year's PE teacher always told us to breathe in and out of our nose, though. And bring a water bottle along with you when running. Keep a clear mind and don't give yourself negative thoughts, because we are all physically capable of running, but it's our minds that stop us from doing so.

My PE teacher told me cramps are caused by lack of water (i'm not sure if that's true). So make sure you drink enough water, and practice running a few laps when you have spare time. It'll help build up your endurance and you won't get as tired. And remember to stretch!

just run a few more laps everyday..each day increasing maybe a half a mile? and then you'll get more accustomed to the distance and you won't get that much cramps. btw, each time before you run, just eat chocolate..like snickers or something like the sort....

everday we run 3 or 4 laps around the school. mostly we do mile runs.. and yeah...
today, i ran. i had a cramp, but i kept going.. really slowly =x but i never stopped.. he doesn't care.. i was like one of the last people.. x.x" so i'm sad.. ><"

you get cramps because you dont get enough oxygen into ur system. Drinking milk just gives calcium, that doesnt do much. im not like an expert or anything but uh you could try gaining some weight and play sports.
btw, what was ur mile time?
....you cant get a c- for running slow...unless ur at some athletic school or soemi;ng.
don't take my advice tho, go here, see if it helps:

The weird thing is...
The P.E. teachers make you run, but they're all WAY out of shape than most kids.
Push, push, push.
Push yourself a lil harder each day or week.
No pain, no gain.
You WILL be sore, just keep pushing.

Hey I failed PE too
had like a C on it

Fcuk P.E. and take dance. Less exercising there...and way much easier. You barely sweat...for me anyway. Lol

Feb 18 2005, 12:54 AM
I used to be like you! Then I started drinking milk and yea. Haha now I kind of got chubby

But anyway, drink milk to make your bones stronger. Then try to do some exercises at home... You should try to be active in something besides P.E. It still takes me 15 minutes to run a mile, lol. But a while back it would take me almost 20 minutes! And that's really sad..

Anyway, do something simple.. The more you exercise, the more flexible you get and the more you get used to exercising. Then your body is more active and flexible, so you'll be able to run better. :]

Haha yeah I
almost failed P.E. cause my teacher is a big donkey butt...but hey..some people are not meant to be athletic..like me lol..but I am kinda..anywho..I agree with everyone else in here..just exercise a little bit and stretch before doing any physical activity..but come on!! You got like a C- in your class just cause you didn't run fast enough or whatever? How lame! I would have my parents call the school!

Feb 18 2005, 01:45 AM
for our school we have to run on mondays wednesdays and fridays and each day the run is little longer and they are timed. i guess what you should just do is do it slowly in increments. but suppsedly cramps while running shoudlnt really prevent you from running. its just your mind. if you dont think about it and keep working you can last for a little longer. you'll build cardio up no worries! i'm skinny too. but then i play alot of sports.

you have to push yourself. though this coming from someone who does track and has no problem with running, i used to. i had to first try to run, even if you're going really slow. practice out of pe, cuz if thats the only exercise you get, it's not gonna do much. try a after school sport or sumthing, anything to get more exercise. the more u get, the stronger your cardio-vascular (heart/lung) endurance will be.

seriously, i wouldn't care if a got a C for PE. okay, maybe a little.
eat regular meals and exercise daily.
