1--GIRL

See, for english homework, i have to write a paragraph about a picture and I chose this picture above. This picture isn't really that disturbing but I guess it sort of is in a way because she's topless lying down a matress springs..etc.

Anyway, what words do you guys think describe this picture and how do you find it disturbing? Thanks

Oh, btw, are those called matress springs? whistling.gif

What I have so far --

I chose this this photograph of a young woman lying topless on top of matress springs by Steven Lippman. I find this picture quite disturbing because everything in it seems to be lifeless. The girl doesn't seem to be alive considering she is lying down in a such awkard position with her eyes closed. Also, the mattress springs looks dull and worn out. I assume that the young woman has been beaten up and possibly even raped before she got locked up before being starved to death. Why do I think she had been beaten up, raped and straved death? Well, from my point of view, she has a couple bruises on her cheek which could've been someone abusing her. She is topless which could've meant sexual harassment . Also, she looks very thin so she could've been starved to death. I think this picture is cold, unconventional and the colors seem rebellious.

OR

I chose an eerie photograph by Steven Lippman. This picture depicts a possible cruel death of a woman. I think she was raped and then left locked in a room to starve to death. The mattress springs were probably picked up from dumpsters for a bed for the victims. This woman is wearing a ballerina skirt so she may have been attacked after ballerina lessons or performing a play. She is topless so she could've been raped. Also, there might have been some strangling because her face has dark brown patches which might indicate she tried to defend herself by attacking the criminal. I think this picture is cold, unconventional and the colors seem rebellious.

*thanks uninspiredfae!*

Argh. I know it sounds so babyish and elementary. yawn.gif

What words have you thought of so far? Here's what I have:

Empty
Twisted
Nova (I know it's a noun, but it does a good job at describing what the picture portrays in my opinion).
Eccentric
Unconventional
Skeletal
Rebellious (color)
Cold

And so on...

As for how it's disturbing to me, I'd like to see what you have came up with so far.

EDIT>>

I wish you had posted a second time instead of editing... happy.gif

I think unconventional should be used to describe the way she is clothed. The ballerina tutu depicts innocence, but with her being topless, it conveys a message of innocence lost, perhaps even broken, either physically or mentally. Unconventional, rebellious and eccentric were meant to describe her firey hair. It seems out of place seeing how the surrounding is a cooler color.

The mattress springs and her body is what disturbs me. There was a stereotypic rumor spreading around that ballerinas and gymnasts are anemic and bulimic because they worry so much about their weight. Without cushions, the springs represent the skeleton of a mattress bed. The idea compliments her bony body in that they are both "skeletal-like".

No problem by the way.
