I was at my friend's xanga just earlier and found this post about Bush banning Anime forever from the United States of America. Some moron who disguised his/her name as "The Undersigned" as written a letter to the President demanding him to BAN ANIME FROM THE STATES. Here's the letter:

QUOTE
To: George Bush

Here in America, we live in a climate of moral decay. What is the cause of this? It is called "anime". Anime is a perverse, evil, insiduous form of animation from the dark land of Japan, and is corrupting America's youth at unprecedented rates. Here are a few examples of anime which are circulating on the Internet and may very well be in your home:

1) Ah My Goddess: A sick and disgusting show which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love. The main female character is clearly under 18, and is forced into a romantic relationship by an older man who "wishes" for her to be his girlfriend forever. He even KISSES her, and she appears NAKED. That poor girl must be so confused.

2) Love Hina: I'm not even going to mention the unspeakable, disgusting, pedophilic, pornograhpic events which transpire during this show, but suffice it to say, groups of young men on Love Hina-fueled rampages are raping children at a level unheard of since the 60s.

If you are a parent or a decent human being, I urge you to sign this petition to ban all forms of anime in the United States. Anyone who is found in possesion of anime should be arrested and jailed for an exhorbant period of time. Anime is a dark scourge upon our beautiful nation, and we don't need this Japanese filth corrupting the hearts of the children.

As a resonsible Christian, I demand to see this garbage removed from our nation. Please sign this petition and send it to George Bush, your Congressman, and the makers/distributors of anime filth and depravity.

Do the right thing.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

You all love Anime, right? And want to watch it forever in your local USA stations? If so, please save it!!! SIGN THE PETITION....

Sign the Petition

that's a good point. bush has ruined freedom of speech during the inaguration by not showing them in the camera.
FLIPxADDICTION
oh come on that's stupid. how does he have the time to rate animes?!?!
Kenjii
I hope Bush is smart enough to disagree. Besides, Congress have to put it into a bill, the bill goes to Bush, THEN Bush signs it. But Congress won't go with that person.

well, first off...I'd like to say that even if George W. Bush banned anime from the states, it honestly won't make a difference to me because 90% of all the anime I get are downloaded off the net, 80% of the 90 NOT being from animesuki.com or any license-obsessive torrent sites.

Secondly, I'm also a Christian, and I believe that the person who wrote that letter is completely out of his or her mind. Sure, Love Hina and such may offend some, but overall it's a good show. Honestly, can you really compare Love Hina with something like...Grand Theft Auto? South Park? Haha, that's a no brainer.

The dark land of Japan? Not a Christian, but a lunatic racist who's got way too much time on his or her hand. Please, if its the last thing Bush needs to take care of, it's anime.

However, one thing remains true: There are lots of parents that really are trying to ban or severely restrict anime within the states, and I hope that someday these grown-ups will come to realize that what they are demanding is absolutely retarded.

Fin.

He won't ban it.
He's scared of Otakus swarming the white house with threats of Mech attacks and Ninja assaults.

xbernaa
he wouldnt ban it...its only one person..and he has other things to deal with right now so yeah...and anyways...there are too many things related to anime...then practically all the good tv shows would be gone -_-;;;
Euphoria Rose
Dark land of Japan??? Right....

That person, Undersigned, must not know that the country's best selling brand of cars are from Japan. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, and many more are from Japan. That idiot. From the dark land of Japan. Besides, Bush wouldn't ban anime just because of one idiot.

I agree w/ your opinion. I think Bush can block anime site from Japan. Can he do that ?
TrueMex3
this is so ridiculous. "Anyone who is found in possesion of anime should be arrested and jailed for an exhorbant period of time." < There is no point in doing this either. Besides- animes are found mostly on cable and its the parents/guardians' idea if they want their child to watch some "pornographic" animes. As I said, this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Idiots...

I don't think so, it's Japan's business, not the US...
Ekay
I saw this somewhere else..When I first read it I was well..rather angry but now that I look at it, this petition won't do anything. I should hope that there are more anime lovers in the U.S. than they are haters. I can't believe this person is badmouthing Japan like this tho, they are the people who make most of our cars. FRIGGIN` RACIST. But that's my opinion.
actionrobot_go
Wow, he must have had a lot of time on his hands. I'm sure that the president will write back to him, reassuring him that anime will be banned rolleyes.gif . After we arrest the potential criminals who are corrupting our youth we should burn them too. Just in case.

imadorkabledxd
hahah what an idiot. the letter seems fake though? i doubt anything like that is going to happen. i don't remember that happening at all? some people are amazingly stupid....so they're telling me south park is worse than anime? give me a break.
fantasy_dreamz
>_< i heard a rumor he was trying to ban it, but i signed the pettition to stop him from banning it, and that person who made the pettition up there doesnt have to watch anime. That person can CHOOSE to ignore it. she doesnt have to be like everyone else, nor does anyone have to be like that person >_> geeze. people can't choose other peoples ways. gah

Technically, he can. And he can even do it such that you might not realize it unless you're sharp enough. But I don't think he will. He's already in enough trouble as it is. He would be stupid to become even more unpopular by banning anime, since there are so many anime supporters.
thait3n

Lmao! Wow, lets play the blame game. First of all, despite my hate towards president bush and how he screwed USA over, and causing the biggest defecite in US history....I'm sure hes smart enough to not listen to someone like him...

1. His proof is mediocre
2. He obviously has somein about Japanese people, so its really somein Bias

anime haters...
sad thing is, they just need to watch anime. in grade school, i hated anime and then about a year ago i became obbsessed with it. feeeed them anime

...and i happen to like love hina, thank you very much ><
Ington
Seriously, this is just stupid. Don't get your panties in a knot people. Bush doesn't have the power to do that. It would be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

I personally don't like anime, but seriously. You're just ignorant to believe that.

I don't see it saying he's going to ban anime anywhere. Do you think anyone is going to listen to the letter writer? You're an idiot. f**king idiot.
chaneun
haha... what a ddonghead
F_L_I_P
Pshhhh Not gonna happen. If it does its not like theres any thing Bush can do to stop me from watching.

I can understand the person's reasons for writing this, but I feel that(and this is for all shows) banning things will, first create a lot more problems with bootlegging, and economic down fall, and second, cultural defusion would not take place, and the sharing of certain ideas will not go from place to place.
There is one problem with what she wrote. she said she wanted ALL anime to be banned. Japanese anime is not just a bunch of shows for the perverted. Anime has a wide range of genres. Its almost like she was banning a book. Lets see what the document says when you put book instead of anime:

To: George Bush

Here in America, we live in a climate of moral decay. What is the cause of this? It is called "BOOKS". BOOKS is a perverse, evil, insiduous form of WRITING from the dark land of ?????, and is corrupting America's youth at unprecedented rates. Here are a few examples of BOOKS which are circulating on the Internet and may very well be in your home:

You get the rest....

Anyway, I look at this part

"from the dark land of Japan"

O_O This person is really racist...

I think this person will not get anytihng done...
Just_Dream
^ I agree. The person who wrote that thread is being way too close-minded and biased. Not only did that person think that anime ONLY revolves around pornography and explicit detail, but that person also misjudged Love Hina.

First off, the manga book has slightly some nudity. But in the ACTUAL anime, it's not as explicit. Actually, I WATCHED the anime and trust me, it's not as what others may say it to be. Sure, Keitaro may accidentally touch Naru Narusagawa, but it's by accident. As for Ah! My Goddess, I don't know much about how the anime is, but the manga seems nice. Just because of that one part where she falls fromt he sky naked... That's it! Sheesh.

It's like okay... If they're going to ban anime, they might as well ban South Park. Why should pornography be allowed in the US, yet anime cannot? It's like banning Pokemon or Megaman or something. STOP THE MADNESS.
eternalwonder143
That's stupid. If this person thought anime caused so much corruption, why would he/she be rating it and what not? Pft. Idiot. lol. If Bush banned Anime, there would be a REVOLUTION!!! And besides, organized crime would skyrocket just like it did during the Prohibition years. laugh.gif
smrkangl
bannning anime is just absurd. my life rotates around it shifty.gif

AHHH sh!t bush cracks me up. i like "Anime is a perverse, evil, insiduous form of animation from the dark land of Japan,"... is that a real letter. if so bush is freakin moron. i think he's talking about the nasty kinda anime.... yeah only he'd know
mzkandi
i doubt anything will become of this
Ballpointpencil
Some of you are so gullible. No offense or anything.

Bush is not banning anime, and that petition has been circulating the 'net for years. It was written as a joke, a parody of the extremists who really did want to ban anime.

Not to mention that even if it wasn't fake, online petitions don't work.

Exactly.. who would be stupid enough to ban something just because someone else doesnt like it..

Thats the stupidest thing I've ever seen.
bby_cutie
Shouldn't he be doing other stuff that's more important than trying to ban anime.
