i wrote this for my xanga entry.. it's just some tips i thought up since i've had 2 midterms this week.. 1 in o chem and 1 in mol. bio.. i'm not the smartest person in my classes.. i'm not the top student either.. but i've taken a LOT of exams, and tried diff. techniques.. failed some and aced some.. so hopefully my tips help u study!.. they may sound DUMB or whatever, but when ur facing multiple exams w/ no time to study for them, u get delusional and u don't remember common sense..

1) if you procrastinate, u better have a great short term memory and be able to learn shit quick
i procrastinate.. no.. lemme state it better.. there has not been 1 test where i didn't procrastinate on studying.. and u know what? i do have a good short term memory and i am able to remember random shit.. and FAST too.. if u can't learn things with a snap of the finger, and u can't remember shit unless u go over it 10 times, don't procrastinate

2. if ur tired, sleep..
i used to think, omg i need to f**king cram.. i don't know shit.. i have no time to sleep.. and i drink lots and lots of coffee and caffeine.. but when i did that, i would be sooo dizzy and delusional by the time the test is in front of me, and i won't be able to comprehend any questions.. sooo.. get a good 6-8 hour of sleep the day before the exam.. if it means 3 hour sleep from 11-2.. get up, study for 3/4 hours.. sleep again for another 3 hours.. DO THAT! it helps!! cuz u want to know what the exam is asking.. instead of wasting 3 hours rereading the damn question 10 thousand times

3. remember what the teacher emphasizes in class
okay, i phase out and fall asleep in class all the time.. but when the teacher repeats something 10 thousand times, u sorta like, remember a word or 2 that he says.. when ur going over ur text or notes, be like, "oh hey he said something about it" and pay extra attention to it.. cuz most likely, he remembers that he emphasized it in class and he'll put some shit about it on the exam.. example, my ls prof. used Stitch from Lilo and Stitch and said something about 64 codons and 20 amino acids.. i don't remember what the f**k he was saying, but i do remember Stitch, and 64 codons to 20 amino acids.. and when i read upon something that had to do w/ codons and amino acids, i paid attention to it.. and guess what, it was on the exam!

please add more tips that has helped u!!!

Math - studying can only be done through extensive practice... if test days is within a week, the only way you can be familiar with those problems is practicing problems, not memorizing how they're done

Make sure your notes contain at least something =D
demolished
Outline will be great for sciences
Copy all the bold words and study what they are use for .. ?
Copy a chart or diagram if it showns on the textbook or whatever.
Memorize the diagram and cause and effects .. especially how did it happen ..
ALWAYS remember what the teacher always say cuz most likely it will be on the test or quiz

think about what they have common or not in common ( compare and contrast )

this is probably the best tip ever!!! i have some sort of short attention span.. so i'll seriously study for like, 30 mins.. get up, get something to drink.. go pee.. stare at my monitor.. go on CB as well as countless other sites... an hour later.. go back and study!

during an exam, you can always get by with help from friends ohmy.gif

Make a mp3 on your iPod. Put all the answers on the mp3. If your teacher allows walkmans and stuff in class. Wear your headphones and listen to all the answers. showoff.gif

Take notes

Do not cram the morning before the test

Sleep early

Chew peppermint gum (there are proven studies that if you do this your brain thinks more or something....and you'll get a better score)
mysticalazxn
listen to a lot of BOA,
eat a lot,
sleep a lot,
bring 2 pencil
and circle answer
no studying needed =P

that what i do when i forgot to study. just stay calm. U perform much better when you dont panic. ANd when u dont study, alway go with you first answer. With all that tip u should at least get a 70. IT alway work for me.

1.) that's cheating.
2.) err..the teacher would have to be really nice to let you do that...
3.) that sounds time consuming.

Here are some tipcs that I've found to be very helpful over the years

1) Taking tests for math can be the hardest type of testing. It requires your to know your equations and your properties. Sometimes you understand how to do things quickly and other times you need alot of time. A week before the test try and practice some problems from the previous week. Reviewing over your previous notes, homework assignments, and the text book can increase your chances of doing well.

2) try and find a quiet place to study. Library, room, etc can allow your mind to focus on the task at hand.

3) In class be sure to take good notes. Have them be clean, organized, and easy to read. Being organized can help you save time by not looking for materials, and your notes can be a great study sheet to review off of.

4) ASK QUESTIONS. You dont know how many times a student will not know how to do a problem and just walk out of the class room with unclear knowledge. If your unsure about an assignement, problem, or step ask your teacher or other students.

5) DONT OVER STUDY. One of the biggest misconceptions is that if you study for long long long periods at a time you will do better. This isnt true because the more you study, the more you can confuse yourself. you know how we all have "Oh my god I knew that" and end up having it wrong. Thats what can happen. Study for an hour, then take a break, and then study again. I've studied once for a psychology test only to do poorly because i over studied. Spread out your study time in intervals, not in large sums

6) Get some rest the day before the test. Your brain functions faster and clearer when its rested.

ah yes.. it's studied like most people's brain only absorb the material they study the first 15 mins and the last 15 mins of their studying period.. so try studying for 45 mins at a time.. this way u only lose 15 mins of low-brain-absorption time.. :P

if it's a scan tron, have your smart friend feed you the answers with his fingers

1 finger...A

2 finger..b

and so on :P

my teachers always say this:
Eat a good breakfast

Yupp that's what I was gona say.

Outline is like the best thing for me to study for my exams. That's what I always do for History too. But for math, I just asked my teached to give me some math problems...and whatever I did wrong, the teacher helps me what I did wrong and I study over that part.

flashcards are crucial to my GPA.

^ flashcards help A LOT. yes.
only perfect practice makes perfect.
math: do a lot of the problems you don't get. look things over, CHECK YOUR WORK.
it helps when you study at night, and dont do anything else after that. go directly to sleep. the answers will stay in your head until morning if you do.
toodlepops.
math=practice makes perfect.

study at a quiet time, lyk at night. use the afternoons to sleep. in other words, turn yourself nocturnal. i tried it once, it seriously helps.
