some people say DIM sum, and some say dim SUM (if that makes sense). just curious...

Well...in Cantonese it's more like:
deem SUM.
Does that answer your question? I guess people read it as "dim sum", like...as in "Tim", but it's really like "been".

to make it more clear, you'd use the accents. ;]

Well, the english way is to say it (without and accent) "dim sum."
I like to pronounce it as "deem' sam" accentuating "dim" :D
I think most Chinese know what I'm talking about.

I say it in the canto way, cantonese accent but its kinda pronounced as the spelling except the pitch of the voice saying it is different, than just saying it in English.

yea like that, "been" is pronouned like bin...so i think "dim" ir more like redeem...deem sum

Dim~ Sum' that's how you spell it in vietnamese. But i think it goes "deem sum" i dont know, but those food are good. Oh and if you guys are wondering what DIM SUM is, it's a chinese breakfest... :)

ok.. from a chinese point of view, it's "deem sum" u emphasize the "eem".. plus don't call them dim shims, or dim sim..
