What was Newton's contribution to french revolution?

Isaac Newton died in 1727 and the French Revolution is dated from 1789 to 1799, so there was a gap between Newton's time and the French Revolution. Maybe the legacy of his work contributed to something?

err, didn't he formulate the laws of gravity or something, which was then used in the making of the guillotine? well, like uninspiredfae said, he died before the french revolution, and i can't think of anything about his work that would've contributed to the french revolution.

Was it like he made something to help the revote? as in like he made a weapon?

Sir Isaac Newton was a important role model in the Scientific Revolution, which in turn inspired the Enlightenment which finally led to the rebellion of the bourgeoursie (sp -_-) for the spurring on of the French Revolution.

Basically, he, as in many other scientists, came up with the idea of scientific proof as opposed to the popular "deduction method" thought up by Rene Descartes.

When the philosphes of the Englightenment looked back at the scientific revolution, they thought "if they can think freely in science... we should be able to in every other aspect of life"... so they did, petitioning for social and economic reformation.

So what did Isaac Newton do for the French Revolution? Nothing for his physical mind had been long defunct.. but his work and thought processes were inspirations to the following eras

well his work inspired people...but I doubt the question would be that vague. I'm pretty sure his work on forces and gravity helped the make of weapons of some sort

i think largosama makes the most sense... cuz when u think of french revolution in the big picture, u think of political change, social change.. i don't really think of the weapons that kill people when i think french revolution..

well im not sure..but i do no he discovered the newton.. he was a big science guy..he created the 3 laws of force.
