You keep contradicting yourself. You go by what the Bible tells you, but lets have a recall. The last time I checked, the Bible tells you what you need to do to be sinless. If you are sinful, you're going to hell. Now, by abiding to these "statements", you are actually following strict restrictions or rules.

^um..have you ever cracked open a bible? the bible does not say "thou shalt never commit a sin" the bible tells you how you can ask forgiveness.

Technically, just because you believe in God or any given Supreme Being, it does not mean that you follow a religion. An organized religion, at least. (Christianity would be an organized religion.)


Which I find rather ridiculous because it's basically like saying, "you shouldn't sin, but don't worry if you do, you can always be forgiven." Relative to going to church and confessing your sins, and then going out sinning again.

That's not all the Bible teaches. It teaches how God loved his creation, how the earth and it's first animals and humans were really created, how to rid of sin, explains what sin is, talks of the devil and so on. As I said I don't follow religion but I follow God, if his word says not to do something I am not going to committ sin and do it.

The Bible says not to sin and explains what sinning is, yes it does say to ask for forgiveness but that doesn't mean you can go out and repeat sin, that would mean you are not actually saved. We must try to be righteous which means asking for forgiveness and making changes, meaning trying not to sin anymore at least purposely.

The Bible may not necessarily say "don't worry about sinning because you can always ask forgiveness," but unfortunately, it is the message some people receive when entering Christianity. (Not all.)

Yes, you are very right, a lot of churches teach different things in the forgivess area which is why I don't really follow a religion, I follow God and the Bible. Some of the things that churches teach are not even biblical or what God asked from us which is why I don't really like the term "religion". I think people shouldn't be in religions, you should just do what is asked, read God's word (the bible) and accept Jesus into your heart.

Yes in a way. But you can't sin and ask for forgiveness and then repeatedly sin again and think your saved. If you are on your death bed and you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and you accept him with all your heart, you will go to Heaven.

And if your not on your death bed and accept Jesus you also must be baptised of water and of the spirit in order to see the Kingdom of God but of course I think there are exceptions if you are never given the chance to be baptised and lets say your a Christian, love God with all you heart, obey him and try not to sin but die in a car accident before you can go through baptism. But if your offered being baptised and turn it down, I think that's different.

Ok, to bring the question to a more extreme point, "Could a person simply ask for forgiveness for his sins immediately before death, who, has gone on killing sprees, participated in illicit sex, lied, stolen, etcetera, etcetera, all his life, and still be permitted into heaven?"

^no b/c there's yet another verse in the bible that says if you keep repeating something you know is a sin & you simply ask for forgivness w/o meaning it..thats a sin

somewhere in the bible's many words it plainly says you need to truly belive jesus is your Lord and savior & believe he died for our sins to get to heaven.

so..if you do that you'll WANT to stay away from sin

First of all, in God's eyes all sins are equal even murder or even just taking his name in vain. If you are truly sorry for what you have done and ask for forgiveness and accept him into your heart you will go to Heaven. God never turned anybody away no matter there sin. Did you hear about the woman who committed adultry?



True, it does state that but if the person did all the sinning and truly asked for forgivess they can enter Heaven. I think Arjuna was asking if a person who is committed really bad things in life will they still go to Heaven. The answer is yes depending on if they ask for forgivess and accept Jesus into their hearts.

Yep, you need to truly accept Jesus, accept that he died for your sins and try not to sin over and over again but it also says that you need to be baptised in water and in spirit in order to see the Kingdom of God.

Well, regardless of what it says, different denominations interpret things differently. Primitive Baptists believe that its all predetermined, and that most people are going to heaven. Penecostals for the most part believe that you have to be saved AND live a good life. etc etc. It just depends on the denomination.

If people want to pray, let them pray.

If they don't, don't force them to.

At my school they say "Let's take a moment to pray now. Bow your heads please."

Me? I just sit there and wait. I don't want to participate in that stuff, but I'm not going to prevent them from doing it because I don't want to.
