i'm surprised there hasn't been a topic on this...
has anyone heard about the new ipod and mac computer that apple released recently? for those who haven't seen and/or heard of them, go
here for the ipod shuffle and
here for the mac mini.
personally, i think the ipod shuffle is stupid. i would never get a flash based player, and if i'm going to spend $100 on an mp3 player i would rather spend more and get something much larger and with more features (maybe a screen?). i can see the appeal though.
the mac mini on the other hand, i think is VERY cool. i am seriously considering buying it.
what do you guys think?

i think the imac mini is aimed at people connecting it to thier TV's...
however; the ipod shuffle i will comment on.
Job's Pack of gum is sugar free trident... not 5 stick doublemint.
that makes it about the same size as most other MP3 players.
next, we can look at the interface: random only, or itunes playlist.
and the lack of screen makes it terrible.
size- respectable, just about the only thing good tho
color- still only white.
i have a white MP3 player like that. 128, only slightly bigger. Oh yea it has FM tuner, Recording, line in recording, Screen, Jog wheel navigation. did i mention it's 50 bucks? and it can be used as a USB drive?
The ipod Shuffle is a pathetic attempt to dominate the flash player market. What Ipod doens't understand is the flash player market, however.
flash players are mostly starting players. The ipod Shuffle has internal rechargable- yet only 12 hours.
a good flash player can last very one on one AA or AAA. when it's out, you pop in a new one.
unfortchantly, they also understand their market. This seems to be something that ipod users will buy for use at a gym, which would damage the ipod and ipod mini (or any HDD)

i agree with you about the ipod shuffle. i think there are better mp3 players in EVERY category that the ipod is in.
...but i don't think the imac mini is for tvs at all, though i suppose you might be able to use one as a monitor. i think it's suppose to be a competitor in the inexpensive pc market.

I hate Macs! I mean, I love my PC (Windows) all the way, but Macs and iPods are too damn cute. Come on Microsoft, time to get purdy!

Mac Mini is targeted toward budget consious consumers who want to try out macs. the Mac mini weighs 2 lbs, and basically if you add an LCD with that, it wouldn't weigh too much more than a laptop, well a small LCD. It's half the height of the apple Ipod and it has moduler componants.

That ipod is cute but not really functional. No screen= not cool. And besides, you really don't have that many options like the other ipods. If I really needed another one [which I don't if you saw my topic about what happened to the last one..] I MIGHT get it. Or just opt. with a ipod mini?
