HelloSunshine
Well, today really got me thinking about happiness. Do you think we're really truly happy? That something will keep us from being completely happy? and.. Can we really spread happiness if we ourselves are not truly happy?

I think that we might think that we're happy, but there's something in the back of our minds that'll come up and bug us. I also think that we can spread happiness, even if we're not happy.

What do you guys think about it?
InvisiblePopcorn
Well, I think I am personally a really happy person. You can be completely happy if you let things go and dont worry about it. And you can still spread happiness if you aren't truely happy: fake smiles.

I don't know about anyone else but for me:

I don't think I've ever been truely happy. But I do think it's possible to spread happiness even without being happy yourself. I make my friends smile everyday in one way or another. It doesn't always last long but for that one moment they're happy.
Chii
people can be truly happy but it doesn't last, the feeling may still be there but there are other things that eat away at your happiness

i don't think you can make others happy when you're not...because somewhere along the line you're going to wonder why you're wasting time making others happy and not yourself
tooeffingcrazy
Well, for one thing, i know im a not a depressed child. I consider myself happy, but you cannot spread happiness if you don't have any.

try not to look at the dark side, even when im sad..i find something to be happy about. maybe because i have found my purpose in life. this usually keeps people from happiness, they dont know what to do with life or what their purpose is.

yes, there will be some things that keep you from happiness, but things always work out at the end. my guy friend told me that, and also said,"i know its a real cliche thing to say, but there's always a grain of truth in that."

happiness for me= the smallest htings...for me, happiness awakens when someone waves to me, when i get a good dinner, a good sleep, a good grade...etc...

and you can definitely spread happiness when your not, the world needs more of it.

thats like trying to make a perfect utopia.
utopia is basically an "ideal perfect society."

You ever watched/read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? You remember the girl who wants everything? She wants to be very happy by wanting everything, and she kept begging her dad to buy like "everything." It's like being eternally happy but also being greedy. It's basically impossible to be "truly happy".

Think of the requirements of COMPLETE happiness. One of the requirements is having everything you want. That's impossible, because you end up wanting more and stuff gets extremely expensive, having a hard time getting what you want, making you not happy.

Be optimistic and find all the good things in sadness. There is basically no such thing as complete happiness.

for me..happiness is only a piece of cake>V<

Oh, that's a very good point.

Without sadness, there is no such thing as happiness. If we were truly happy, we wouldn't always have to improve on anything. Too much happiness causes frustration.

I know what kind of people are truly happy: those with down syndrome. Honestly, they live under this veil of ignorance that normal people would never be able to achieve under any circumstances. Everytime I see them, they're so happy. They live life without fear. To me, that is true happiness. I envy them at times for it, too. So yes, I do believe it's possible to attain true happiness. For us, it's a far greater challenge.

i cant determine whether or not im happy.. blink.gif

very true.

i believe that there are different levels of happiness. a superficial level and a level or "true happiness". right now, i feel that i havent been truly happy for weeks, but i'm still happy, superficially so.

I think that no one will ever be truly happy because it doesn't exist. Is it possible to have EVERYTHING a person has every wanted?

I think it's possible that a person doesn't need to have everything they want to be happy, he/she can be happy with just what he/she has.

There is true happiness, but no one said it had to last any longer than a second.

You're happy if you truely believe you're happy. Probably not otherwise.

there is no such thing as " true happiness "

cuz everyone hide their sadness and pretend to be happy ..
every can be happy but cant have a true happiness ..

i never been very happy once in my lifetime but i have been happy.

Happiness can be considered in different proportions. There is a wide range of 'happiness'. Many different people have different views upon it, as well.

So, for there to be 'happiness' would probably make another person sad. When I think of 'True' happiness, I think more towards everyone.

'True' happiness most likely will never be achieved with the way the world is, or how man kind has been created.

my thoughts exactly

when i think o f happiness
i think about having a good job!
angel-roh

Well if you are not very happy, I don't think
you can spread happiness to another.
That's kinda weird. Then you should be happy
in the same time.
innovation
well, what is the definition of happiness? would it be ultimate peace of mind? complete satisfaction with one's life? with that definition, i think that complete happiness would be kind of scary.. because that would imply zero conflict, wouldn't it? and what's life without conflict and a variety of emotions?

yeah, I totally agree with that. I sometimes think that I'm truly happy, but I'm not quite sure what it is exactly.

I guess you're truly happy when inside theirs nothing but joy, i kinda do that alot when i think about my crush p_p;
aznxdreamer
we are all not truly happy. we will never be as long as evil stays in the world and in our minds like death, pain, deisease, loss, stuff like that.

I think that is so true....like confuscious would say on this topic - the middle path is best. With moderation (no extreme happiness, but also no extreme sadness) comes contentment, when you are content with life, you are happy with life.
jue
i agree; theres always that one thing that you always have there in your head; a past memory orsomething htat always will keep you sad at times

I think people can be "truely" and over-all happy without everything in their life being perfect. I mean, no one has a perfect life. But as long as a person can come to peace with their inner battles and past bad experiences.

I have crap in my life and some bad memories but I do consider myself a truely happy person. I mean, I'm not afraid to get up on tables and dance (I did it this weekend at a cast and crew party after a school play this weekend, in fact. laugh.gif ) and I'm not afraid to be myself. The people who aren't truely happy are usually afraid to do such things.
