ok, i was in english today and i was bored, so i was thinking and thinking.
If killing one innocent people will make ten other people's otherwise extremely miserable life around... would you vote yes?

i don't know, it's really hard, reminds me of the lady and the tiger story. I am asking for you all's opinions

i dont think there are supposed to be polls on debate.

and no i dont think that... it can be true but there millions and billions of people out there and someone dies in the world every 10th of second. and the other people in the world are probably have their luck turned around. so i dont think the reason for someone dying is the case its just there is a lot of people in the world so chances are someone dies, and someone gets lucky.

it depends .. or maybe its hard for me to choose. its pretty hard to chose whether that person should died or not. its not right to take someone's life unless that innocent person want to died for them or sick of living. i unno .. its hard to decide ...

This is actually a weirdly worded question. "One innocent people" how do you who is innocent? Who should die? How are they determined. In theory no one deserves to die at the hands of another man unless a conflict is presented.

just because the sacrifice will benefit others doesn't mean it won't affect other people, it might deeply hurt 10 other people if that person dies, no one should be sacrificed

Back to the subject, how can you kill 1 innocent person, and save 10 people's lives. The only ones that will be saved is the murder and his/her friends. If you kill one innocent person, and make others miserable, than thats pretty self explanatory.

See, if you kill the innocent person, then you would save the other 10 innocent people's lives, but if you don't, you killed 10 innocent people, i mean, it's immoral in either way

let's say you were a german in nazi germany, and didn't like the holocaust.

you hid 11 jewish people in your attic.

you try to transport them to a cave outside of town.

however, in the transportation process (you hid them in various things)

one of them starts drawing attention of nazi guards. he's claustrophobic and is freaking out.

you have two options.


you can either help him out of the box he's in so he can run away. and the nazis will catch the other 10

or you can pretend he hid in your box and turn him into the nazis when they come (they're walking down the street to you right now)


which one?

Noone should die, there must be a way for all of them to leave together...



I'm not really sure what I would do if in that situation but as of now I would try to help him out. The other 10.... eventually I will think of something to help them

I think this is a hard decision too, but it all depends on the circumstances. Who's involved, what is the situation...etc. No matter though, I wouldn't want to deal death out lightly.
