is there a right or wrong: vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, fruititarian, omnivore, etc.? Why?

I ask because i have heard people say that it is wrong to eat certain types of food.
demolished
i dont think so, but its wierd when people only eat vegetables other then meat.
mai_z
I think that there is no wrong. It's survival of teh fittest. What i choose to eat is my business. And a dog is no cuter than a piggie, so pfft (not that i eat dog..)
Nicolatofu
^^aww, are you implying that dogs are ugly??
Well, i don't eat certain meats, because that's just me...i don't thing there is a right or wrong to what you eat. some people may disagree with what others eat, but it's not like they're gonna take away your food!
Teesa
well, i don't think there's a right or wrong, but in my religion, it says we shouldn't eat beef, so I don't, but if other people do, I don't really care.
Spirited Away
Depends on who you ask.
DaTru KataLYST
Well. I guess you shouldn't eat officially endangered species...

I don't eat seafood. Just cuz it looks weird to me. But that's just me. Eat fish if you like it. ;]
mechwarrior1989
IMHO there's no right or wrong, you make your own decisions and those decisions can change over time. Why eat something when you don't want to? Just eat what you like to.
Azarel
No, there is no right or wrong. What is right and what is wrong is up to you to discern; after all, right and wrong are only how you think, it's your opinion.

People usually ask: why do we eat some species of animals but not others? It is because those animals we normally eat are domestic poultry (sp?) which this has been practised by humans thousands of years ago. Dogs, for instance, are pets, and NOT domestic poultry.

Well anyways, no matter if you're a vegeterian or whatever, no one can control what you eat.

Just because people started eating poultry thousands of years ago doesn't make it any better to eat chickens than eating dogs, for instance. Someone a thousand years ago could've just as easily raised dogs to eat. But instead, they found that dogs were better served as domesticated pets, whether for work or companionship. But someone had to first eat chickens. Just because you're around a thousand years later doesn't mean it makes sense that chickens are ok to eat and dogs are gross to eat. Someone started it. Who knows? Maybe dogs are deliiiiicious.

I personally don't eat dogs. lol I eat chicken, beef, pork, venison, duck, goose... I think that's about it. And I would probably never eat dog unless my life depended on it. I just find it funny/interesting how humans chose certain kinds of animals to eat and now it's such a routine that we find anything that strays from that routine to be reprehensible and repulsive.

Anyway, there is no right or wrong in this case because most forms of meat and non-meat diets (with the exception of cannibalism. EW.) are socially acceptable. So the only issue of right and wrong would depend on individual morals.

It's ok to eat as long as it isn't a person (obviously), and endangered animal, or a domesticated animal-- such as a kitten ot dog... People will find this sad and offensive. It disturbs people. Why would you upset so many people when you have so many other alternatives.

People can eat what they want. For the record I choose not to eat beef, pork, lamb, deer, etc. I do eat chicken/turkey though. I think it's important to get protein and keep yourself healthy.

Do you even know anything about being a vegetarian? A vegetarian diet has been proven to be extremely healthy actually. wacko.gif
sammehmyst
Eat everything.
(In the food pyramid. )
=)
HelloSunshine
Some people eat but vegetables, others but meat, and others both. It's their choice. It's like a question with no right or wrong answer.
salcha
there is no wrong food, if there was...THEN WHY DID THEY MAKE IT?
not even candy, they make it for your enjoyment. but there should never be an overdose of anything...especially the sugar if you play in a sport
tooeffingcrazy
^ I don't think they make pigs so you can eat them, nor fruits.

Every food is right to eat. No one is going to stop you. So do whatever you want.

.com source. online. not credible.

find a PDF report by a scientific institute, please.

because these are scholarly reports that are nearly always true*

*because sometimes the research institute fakes the results; but those get caught.

Ummm... That talks about the healthiness of vegetarian meats, not a vegetarian diet overall.

There's of course, as said, no right or wrong. However, vegetarians have a harder time getting protein, while .. carnivores(o_0) may get obese easier. Come on, guys. Follow the pyramid! Be a bear.

To the remark of vegetarian diets being healthier, it's only in the view of omnivores-carnivores. Of course they're healthier - the ones who tried it found that those foods gave the things they were lacking.

A vegetarian, when learning about a meat-based meal, will say that it is healthy, no? Maybe not, but he/she will be able to obtain the materials he/she lacks.

the food pyramid is a political poly.

the reason why it tells you to eat so little meat and so much bread is that it was made when the government predicted there would be meat shortages.

so they released the pyramid to encourage people to eat less meat and more bread.

it's got nothing to do with health or diet. it's political.
tofuburger
what do you mean wrong to eat???...like types of animal???..i think all animals are ok to eat..they were put on earth for a reason..and that reason is for us to eat them...otherwise they'd be overpopulating the earth...
sadolakced acid
actually; no.

the reason why some animals are not extinct is because we eat them.

and the reason why some are is because we don't

take the dodo bird for example.

the dutch found them to taste nasty, so they just hunted them for fun.

the didn't care about preserving them because they didn't see a use for them.
now cows, these are kept alive because we can eat them.
heyyfrankie
i think that there are some religions that don't let you eat some forms of meat or other things like that but in my religion (christianity) we are allowed to eat anything. unless it is a certain holiday or fasting period.
angel-roh
There's no wrong to that statement. We can eat whatever we want to live. We need foods to live. I know if you eat too much meat, it's bad. But let the people eat whatever they want. A lot of people doesn't want to stay healthy, then don't let them. I don't think why we should force them. It's like they don't have much freedom if we keep forcing them what to eat.

There really is no right or wrong way to each person, but I myself am vegan. I feel that it is not only wrong to kill and or use animals for their products but it is also way healthier for you. I know veganism can be a little intense for some people, but I was a vegetarian for quite some time. And trust me, as soon as I stopped eating meat I could feel the difference. I had more energy, I lost weight, and I was guilt-free. Well guilt-free until I realized I was still killing tons of cows, chickens, etc. for their products. So here I am.
