My sister is on the Drill Team at our school. And the 2nd lieutenant, yes, the third best dancer on the team, got pregnant. And the girls mom just happens to be the director of of the drill team!! pinch.gif

so do you think that she should be able to stay on the team, keep her high rank, and go to the same school? I don't want her to. Because when my school goes to competition and she can't perform because she has a baby, it makes our school look bad! what do you think?

no one on our colorgurad has ever gotten pregnant (well, not during the season at least...) she should be able to perform while she can, and once she starts showing, she probably wouldnt be able to keep performing anyway. they cant kick her out of school though. that would be wrong.

well, they wouldn't exactly kick her out of school, they would just send her to an alternative school. She would still get an education, just not at my school.

How can she even perform? Wouldn't it endanger the fetus?
Statistik
Can't someone substitute her? huh.gif

Wait a minute...

What's wrong with going to the same school as your pregnant sister? You can watch out for her, take care of her, and be there for her. You ARE her family aren't you? huh.gif >>> mellow.gif >>> stubborn.gif >>> mad.gif

the pregnant girl is not my sister. if she was, than the director would be my mom.

and someone could substitute her but she wants to still be on the team and perform! and everyone is like, you have a baby! and she is like, i don't care, i want to dance!

^ lmao i dont know why but that made me laugh.

i dont think she should stay on the team, but maybe the school. wth.. she got pregnant. umm.. she shouldnt stay on the team defintly because it could be bad to her health. i mean, cant she get abortion or something?

i hope she would never get an abortion! that is not the answer!
Teesa
yeah, I think it would be really unhealthy for the baby, so I don't think she should continue with the drill team, in my opinion.
HikaruTakekawa
they shouldnt kick her out of the school or dance team or anything. she's having a baby so she needs extra care, maybe she should take abreak away from teh dance team for a while until her baby is born.

OMG, I'm a nutcase. Ignore me.
a smile is power
she'll find out soon enough that she CAN'T dance when she's 8 or 9 months pregnant lol. blink.gif however i did know a girl who jumped on the trampoline when she was 9 months pregnant...but thats nothing compared to being on a dance squad. the girl shouldn't be kicked out of school, she shouldn't have an abortion, and she should stop dancing til the kid is born, for heavens sake!
pikimoo
Why would she have to go to another school?? blink.gif

I mean, yeah she should stop dancing after a few months.. but then after she has her baby she should be fine.

if you don't want people to get abortions, you shouldn't shun pregnat people.

abortion is wrong!

yes yes, wrong thread

or maybe she wants to stay on the team so she can inadvertantly lose the baby, and have it be an accident...
nevernothere
Well if she wants to keep dancing... she should get an abortion.. if she doesn't want an abortion... I don't see how she could keep dancing until after the birth... and even then... _unsure.gif She should be subbed... how would it be embarassing? How would any other school's team know she's pregnant?
abstracted
She shouldn't dance...if she's pregnant, and she wants the baby, she shouldn't dance. It might or might not hurt the baby, but why take the risk?

If she doesn't want the baby, then she should get an abortion. I don't think abortion is wrong if it's saving the mother's life (unless her parents are totally okay with it, and she's ready to take a lot of time out her teenage/school life for her baby).

Whether or not she wants to stay on the team and keep her rank depends on whether she wants her baby. I mean, she won't be able to practice or perform while pregnant, and after birth, she'll be busy taking care of her baby! Either she will have to do it, or her mom--the drill team can lose a dance or the director.

I dunno...just what I think.

Not trying to be a d**k or anything but that comment really irked me. Why would you be embarrased about there being a pregnant girl on your team? To me thats almost the same thing as racism/discrimination. Her being on the team when shes not pregnant should not affect you or the team in anyway unless you believe that strongly in teenage pregnancy. It will not sway the judges and the opinions the other schools get are worthless. If all people in your school think like you I wouldnt be surprised if this girl has an abortion or commits suicide from the torment she would recieve.

Edit: Hmm I just noticed I could have misunderstood the comment, if you mean she shouldnt be out there dancing than I agree with you completely, but if you meant she shouldnt be able to travel and remain on the team than my thoughts are as expressed.

Geez it's like you people ahve never heard of abortion before...

wait...drill team? dancing? don't u guys do ...*drill* on drill team? i dun understand...maybe it's cuz i'm from canada sad.gif

well, if her mother the drill team instructor would let her stay on, then her parents must be ok with it
BEBEx_iNFAM0USS
i think it is wrong to care more about the schools reputation that the health of the girl and the baby. would you feel the same way if that happened to someone you care about?
runforfun529
Saying that you don't want her at your school is just... stupid on your part.

I agree that she shouldn't be on drill team anymore, but she shouldn't be kicked out of the school. People will get used to her, and I don't think it matters whether you are pregnant or not. She is already suffering enough because she is pregnant in high school.
sammi rules you
OMGZ NEVER AN ABORTION!!!!!111

stubborn.gif she can have an abortion if she wants. how does it affect you in any way? maybe then you won't be so embarrassed of her when she has no baby in her stomach.

she can stay on the team, just not perform. she could probably perform without endangering the baby for a little while at least anyway.

i don't see what the big deal is..
tweeak
well then how does it effect us when people weve never met get murdered?

but if her parents are supportive, and at this point people already know shes pregnant, so what would aborting accomplish? its too late to save her reputation, and drill team isnt everything.
starfaerie06
I don't think she should be allowed to stay on the drill team but she should be allowed to stay at your school.

At my school when a girl gets pregnant she's allowed to stay at the school until she reaches her 8th month. After that she's sent to an alternative school because it's better equiped for delivering a baby if she should go into labor while at school and there isn't time to get her to a hospital. And then after the baby is born the girl is allowed back to my school. I think it's a good system (one of the few at my school).
Heathasm
its not that difficult
dancing is healthy for pregnat women....she should be able to dance and perform until her belly is too big be doing what she used to do
and there is no reason to kick her out of the school and send her to an alt...just no reason at all
heyyfrankie
i have been thinking. and i think that it will be alright for her to stay at the same school. but i just don't know what kids at school are going to think when they see the second lieutenant pregnant! _unsure.gif
picaso_smile
Well... I dopnt' really think she should be kicked off the team. But she should consault her doctor and if it could endanger her baby, she shouldn't do it. But on the other hand... if she continues to practice in the same spot wouldn't that create a problem come preformance time when her spot is open?
callie828
Wow. If the hot topic of gossip around your school is that the 2nd lieutenant of your drill team is pregnant, I feel really sorry for you.

I think you should stop worrying so much about what other people will think *coughconceitedcough* and support your drill teammate instead of suggesting that she leave the school. Oh the shame she's brought to you and your dance team! _dry.gif Don't you think that's a little selfish? Maybe it's not about you and what people will think of you and how they'll react to you and your dance team. I think she's in a little bit of a worse position than you are, so excuse me for not sympathizing with you.

If she's capable of dancing then she should be allowed to until which time she can no longer safely complete the routines. Her spot should then be held for her until she can return to the team.

You might want to hope that if anything should happen to you, your teammates would be a little nicer and more understanding.

i think she should stay and do what she loves to do because it seems that you and the school only care about winning and winning isnt everything isnt that being selfish? if so thats wrong only thinking about you and the school and winning maybe she made a mistake but only thinking whats best for the school is wrong talk to her help her out because maybe one day it could happen to u and god knows she's prolly stressed out and she could use some help :)
toodlepops.
she should perform while she can. when she starts showing, sum1 should substitute her. iono.
