Well, I use xanga as a public blog and blogger for a private blog. I honestly like blogger better.

First, they don't have the ads that say something like, "Hit the streaker and win a free iPod!!!!!!!" All they have is a search bar at the top and you can change the colors to match your layout.

Secondly, Blogger's HTML template is more like Notepad. Xanga is pretty much for people who know nothing or have a basic knowledge of HTML. I like blogger because everything is all in one space, without having to scroll up and down, going to different sections like xanga. Plus, I know HTML rather well, so I like that better. (I don't use the basic Blogger skin, I make my layouts more like you see on xanga.)

And in Blogger, you can save your posts as a draft and there's even an auto-recovery feature, so in case your computer freezes most or all of your entry is saved so you don't have to start over. And the draft is great so if you want to come back and finish it later you can.

Plus, they have most, or maybe even all, of the entry features that you can get with xanga premium. There's spell check, font, etc.

They don't have blogrings or anything, but I don't mind.

One thing I don't like is that sometimes it takes FOREVER for the posts or layouts to finish updating. (Where it says "0%, 50%, 100%, you know.)

I use xanga as my public blog because practically almost everyone I know has one. ermm.gif But I love blogger. I honestly wish people used that more than xanga.

I think xanga is better but I think it's starting to get overrated

Blogger definitely has less retards on it, considering it takes a tad more brain to use.
But if you're a comment whore, stick with Xanga.

I haven't used Blogger before, but it sounds nice and I want to give it a try IF I happen to get tired of Xanga.

Now at the moment, I'd just stick with Xanga.

I have never used this Blogger, I might give it a try. It's better to host your own blog in my opinion, www.funpic.org offers free mySQL and stuff to host a ad free blog. It takes time to install though. Not really hard just time consuming.

I wrote my own blog software for my website, and designed my own database to store the data. It's nice because there are no ads, and I can add any features I want, do whatever I want with the layout, and so forth. I also created it as a learning experience, to try to do more with scripting, so it's beneficial in that regard, too.

I've actually considered releasing the source code to other interested individuals, but...it's written in ASP/VBScript for Microsoft Access (it's on a Windows 2000 server), and not many people use that, so I don't know how useful it would be to release it. I have a PHP/MySQL version as well, but I haven't completed a fully-functional version of it yet.

If you where gunna make it free scripting it would maybe hit the market and get wide use. But I know people who charge for blog install and such and well - they dont make it far.

I wasn't planning on making a business out of it. It's just a little software package and it's not worth it to sell it. I'd considered it because a number of people have asked for some of the core library files of the software.
