do your parents(especially asian parents) open gifts slowly and carefully so they can save the paper for other times. mine do, and i find it extremely annoying

. they also save the little bags people put gifts in. once, we gave the same bag back to the the person who gave it to us.

lmao...actually I'm the one that does that. Sometimes if I find really nice wrapping, I take off the tape carefully...it takes me a while to open it...then again I barely get any presents.
But I never give back the same bag back to the person who gave it to us...I usually find a use for it. *storage, etc.*
My parents tell me to just tear apart the wrapping...

My parents save the bags but when it comes to gift wrapping... uh, they just throw it away?
I open my gifts viciously so.. there's no way you can conserve the giftwrapping on my gifts.. even if you tried.. or if you're an gift wrapping doctor-- is there such thing?

YES. lol everyyear. when im open to tear the wrapping off, there like NO! save it..so we have to like a pocket knife and like cut the tape off and try and not to ruin the wrapping... my parents do it with grocery bags too, we have like literally 1000 bags hanging in this closet.

I don't think this applies ONLY to Asian parents...I think some people are like that and some people aren't. I'm one of these people, and I know a lot of people who aren't, and a lot who are. My parents always tell me to rip it out quickly and throw the paper in the garbage, haha.

Meh, the tendency to save things and use them for other things, I think, comes from living in a poorer time/place/location. We don't get that many presents given to us around xmas time. I tear the wrapping paper right off my presents. Who gives a eff about the paper?

My family doesn't do that. Since we celebrate Christmas with a large amount of people, unwrapping slowly will delay the rest of the presents that still needed to be opened. We just tear it off. And I worked so hard to make the presents look nice when I wrapped it.

Hahaha yeah no one does it in my family just me. I guess it's because I wrap all the gifts and hate to see that my hours of work are just torn apart. But we don't save the wrapping paper even though I take my precious time trying not to tear anything.

well if it`s really nice gift wrapping paper my mom will sometimes open it all carefully and slowly but if not we just rip it up. and the bags, well not only are my parents the ones who keep them, but i do too. shoot, bags can be expensive. why not save them and give them away again instead of having to spend like an extra buck or 2 on each present.

Dec 26 2004, 11:59 PM
... I LIKE TO SAVE WRAPPING TOO! Only if it's pretty. But still, I barely get anything wrapped any more.. It's always some money or something in a bag.. and usually I save that bag lol... And usually, I expect anyone who receives a gift from me that I wrapped up, to save the wrapping lol, even though they probably didn't. I take time and delicately wrap the gifts and yea... Bleh. My parents don't save the wrapping.. not that I know of.. They barely wrap things anyway. It's all about being lazy and going out to buy a christmas bag and putting the gift in it with a group of tissue paper.

Well it depends on the wrapping.
If it's really pretty and nice, even if my parents don't ask me to open it carefully, I'll do it and save the wrapping paper (NOT using it again I mean). =]

my mom saves the foil gift wrap and throws away the paper ones.
but we always reuse gift bags, ribbons, bows, tissue paper, etc...
and when we run out of wrapping paper we always use coupons or go to the dollar store to buy gift wrap
man we're cheap!!

Dec 28 2004, 04:02 AM
We're Australian and my parents do that too! My Mum does anyway.
And my younger sister wrapped a gift in tiny pieces of reused paper and they all fell off before she gave it to the person it was for.
