I use a hybrid of Windows XP and some flavors of Linux (usually Knoppix/ubuntu). I use Windows for much of my time (unfortunately) because *gestures at school* you know...

I built my own computer, specs are something like:

Antec Sonata case
Chaintech mobo, I forgot the model, too lazy to look it up :p
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Zalman CNP-S7000 or something like that CPU cooler
512MB PQI DDR SDRAM
16x multiformat DVD burner
52x32x52x CD burner
Mitsumi Floppy Drive
Seagate 200GB HD
Old Seagate 4GB HD, used for testing Longhorn
NVidia GeForce FX 5200 graphix

etc.

got to run, byz

My primary machine is a custom-built PC based on a Sempron 3100+. It dual-boots Windows XP Pro SP2 and Fedora Core 3 (Linux), but normally I run it in Fedora Core.

I also have an iBook that runs Mac OS X 10.3.9, an old iMac running Ubuntu Linux (which I really don't like too much, but I can't find a decent PowerPC Linux distro), and a really old Mac Classic II runnin System 7.1. I had a Performa 6320CD, too, that ran Mac OS 8.5, but the power supply went a few months ago, and it wasn't worth fixing.

I bought the iBook and the PC, but the other computers were given to me at various times.

Well, if I have Linux installed on the same drive as Windows, I prefer GRUB, as that's Fedora Core's default bootloader, but I think I'm in the minority there, as most people use LILO.

Right now, though, Fedora is installed on a separate hard drive (Fedora is on /dev/hda, and Windows is on /dev/hdb) so booting only requires a simple switch in my BIOS settings.

OMG, theres so many people useing Windows XP Home, no wonder there's so many people pissd off at Windows XP.

XP PRO offers more features, such as being able to customize it and turning off more un-needed junk. Plus it doesn't require as much updates or Validation through Microsoft for tech support.

There is also a patch for XP Home to use Remote Desktop and such.

bah! Down with Windows....and thats ALL WINDOWS! For pete's sake, you cannot tell me that people dislike windows because they don't have Pro. Thats well...its just alot of....stupidity. My dad has Win Pro. My mom has Win Home. There is hardly a differance. Its all garbage.

I have this thing called Longhorn. I dont really know what it is, but I know its a beta version of some windows somethin or another. it has an xp formet, but its much more stable. My mom fiancee got it for me...hes a hacker, so I know he didnt pay for it, but he got it because I was running a lot of music programs on my computer, and music making programs tend to crash a lot...and appaently its more stable. All I know, is when I start up my system, it says longhorn on the user pick page thingy lol.

Actually Windows XP PRO is more stable, and has alot more functions than XP Home does. And as for you mac, you paid around $1,799.00 for it. I don’t know if you upgraded or anything, but the basic iMac G5 20" come only with,

20-inch widescreen LCD
2GHz PowerPC G5
667MHz frontside bus
512K L2 cache
512MB DDR400 SDRAM
250GB Serial ATA hard drive
Slot-load 8x SuperDrive (double-layer)
ATI Radeon 9600
128MB DDR video memory
56k internal modem

Hmmm, I could get that for about $1,000 in the PC world. And mac users wonder why people choose PCs?

All that HD space and no DVD burner..... ohmy.gif I've used at least 800 gigs on DVDs and such, I have 1 raid control and that’s at 2 terabytes, and then my other 500 gig that’s the M drive for all my movies.(Which are LEGAL) I have like 340 mb left on the M drive. I need to get another 500 gig. And what’s funny, Is that I own a Dell....... This week I plan on buying a Intel Pentium Extreme Edition Dual Core w/ HT Tech (3.20GHz, 800FSB)...... All that Processor speed and no programs that will use it all.

Windows XP Pro is the best. It's been the easiest system I've ever worked with. I still enjoy Linux, though.
