Has anyone here done modeling before? Or has a friend who has done it? I'm just curious since right now Rampage has this modeling thing [I don't know if some of you have seen the ad in CosmoGirl or not] and I was wondering how hard modeling can be. Also, this ish out of the subject but it's almost the same thing related to modeling.. kind of. =P Has anyone tried/knows/ if Windsor Pilates and ProActiv works? =\
LivinInTheShadows
i'm in modeling/acting. i haven't gotten a job yet. but i took the classes.
xlitoxb
Are they hard? Like what do they look for? lol I'm like trying to "prepare" beforehand.. =P
Nicolatofu
ok, umm when i was like 11 i was into a little modeling, but i have heard of Rampage, but just be careful b/c there are tons of scams out there. And they can cost you big bucks for nothing. I'd suggest looking at their backround, maybe on BBB.
Also, Pro activ works pretty well (for the billionth time) but it all depends on your skin type. Just try it for yourself, they have those money back garentees if it don't work out. It's not just if it "works" or "doesn't work" because everyone has different skin. Who's to say they can make something work on everyone? Everyone's different
LivinInTheShadows
well it can be hard at times. but they just want you to be the best you can. they look for different types of people. there's a bunch of people who look different from each other. by the way, are you signing up for modeling?
xlitoxb
Well, I saw this ad in a magazine for a Rampage modeling thing.. Here's the link: So You Want to be a Model And like they need a head shot of yourself, and a full body shot.
Nicolatofu
Oh, yeah now i remember where i heard that from! It's been in the magazine for quite a while now. Well, you could register, you've got nothing to lose, but remember, there's so many girls who want to model, so don't be dissappointed if you aren't chosen you might want to first go with a local agency
xlitoxb
hehe, I already know that I won't get chosen but if I do it's good. =] I do things with high hopes but not hopes that are that high.. =P hehe.. And besides, I don't think my parents would want me to become a "full time" model if I do find a local agency or whatever.. hehe
Nicolatofu
local agencies usually aren't full time. In fact only a very small percentage of aspiring models can make it on only the income they get from modeling. Now, if you live in NY, or somewhere like that, then you will deff. have more of a chance at getting more jobs. Most local modeling jobs don't even interrupt your school

i model. im going to LA in january for an international competition. its kinda hard to get runway perfect tho. and you cant be camera shy, at all. and also, you have to be at least 5'9 to become a professional model.

i wanted to do the rampage thing but dont have time.

well if it's from cosmogirl, then it's worth a try cause cosmogirl dont tell you rip offs or the bad stuff so yeah. but anyways i wasnt REALLY a model. but i was almost there to be a korean model...T_T;; but i had to go back to america so yeah heh... hm it was very hard and very difficult once i try to get to the finish line. cause in korea ack... you have to take care of the make up to your face, and everything. i had to wake up at 5 am in the morning and get there like 5:30 am in the morning -__-;; it was a tiring job but at least it was fun cause u get to be in the ads and stuff lol. i was in the newspaper ad like only once...and sigh i wish i was in tv one, but i had to go to america so yeah. so good luck on your modeling!!
xlitoxb
o0o I doubt there's even an agency where I live. =P hehe, It's all good though. I just want to see what it's like to model. ^_^

I've done pageants, taken AND taught modeling classes, etc...just make sure to watch out for scams. There are SO many of them out there. Just a tip--if they want money from you up front, make sure to find out exactly what it's for. Remember, modeling agencies are supposed to pay YOU. Not the other way around.
lovescream
my mommy is like you're gonna be a model when you grow up.
i like the fact that i'll be a model.. i mean she's making me walk but i havent gone in pagents or anything special to make me noticed =\
I WANNA BE AN ACTRESS

You don't have to be 5'9" to be a runway model. There aren't any "requirements" or "rules" to become a runway model, just so long you've been successful elsewhere and people want you. You could be 5'4" and still walk, providing people want you. Take Kate Moss, one of the most famous models in the world. She's only 5"6' (don't quote me on that, I'll have to look it up. Plus models always lie about their height, so it's never accurate on the internet) and she walks the runway as a fashion icon. You don't need to be a giraffe to be a model.

Just ask yourself what kind of modelling you want to do. Actual high fashion modelling? Well, you have to be tall and have a unique face to do that. Or do you just want to appear in small editorials for teen magazines? You could be any size for that. Plus the Rampage contest is awesome if you want to do that. =))

I'd advise you to do a LOT of research of agencies, designers, models, etc. If you appear knowledgable, you will be knowledgeable about the industry and everything about it. Just look out for scams, and make sure the agencies are credible. If you want to hit it big, move to New York or Paris, as you will have TONS more luck there.

Good luck =)

i am in modeling right now. sum people found me and they're called "model search america". but also i have been modeling since i was 5 years old. and im 12 now. supermodeling is what i want to do in life. <33
xquizit
I modeled maybe 6 or so years ago for Jean Machine and Clothestime. I did several fashion shows in malls across Maryland, DC, and Virginia and that was pretty much it. It wasn't that fun, the girls were very catty, and I didn't get to keep any of the clothes. But I did get discounts. biggrin.gif
xlitoxb
hehe, Thanks guys. =] I just have to pay $20 for the contest for something I forgot. >_< I just know that it's legit though and not a scam. I just want to be like 'prepared' I guess you can say that if I do win I'll know what to do. ^_^ Also, if I like the idea of modeling that I could look for agencies like what you said. =] I'd never have thought of agencies at all if you guys hadn't mentioned it. hehe =P
becomingAWARE
I've actually done something called window modeling. its free, and kind of random. you literally pose in a wondow of a store. i was 12.
but, i also was accepted into The JRP actinga dm mdoeling academy, but didnt accept their offer. Modeling is tough. It is not as easy as it looks. You have to be very pgotogenic--doesnt matter how pretty you are in real life-and usually have to be of a certian height [5'8 for cat walk] but for just regular photo, its probably more about being photogenic.

i've only done a teeny bit. nothing big. i want to get into it more. i'm currently looking for a good agency with my mom. nothing life-lasting but i think it'd be great for something to do right now.

xlitoxb
o_O I haven't the slightest clue..
177emories
i've done modeling and actually still doing that now.. you've got to be open and not shy at all! be able to stay at a pose thats hard to be steady at lol and it pays pretty good. not something i'd do as a career just as a part-time thing for extra cash... if you can make it go for it.

Windsor Pilates i have that and i tried it a coiple of time and thats about it i can't do it, its hard... if you can do that then try it...and ProActiv haven't tried it and i would if i didn't had to order it...

hope this helps.
xlitoxb
hehe.. o_O Hard poses? lol Thanks for the info about Winsor Pilates. ^_^

ohhh like where u have to wear 3 inch heels and stand on one lag and have you hands up for the photo shoots man thats hand to keep still with.. and if your talking about the catwalk kind those are fun just have confidence when you walk and they'll see that and remember to smile on the catwalk but don't smile in the pictures hehe unless its asked. you gotta have this attitute to it.
xlitoxb
hehe.. No wonder all the girls on the catwalk look 'mean'. =P I'm just sending in a photo to see if I get choosen as one of the 12 to get picked as the 'the one'. lol.. Did that even make sense? =P
177emories
that thing is like a scam imagine how many ppl who wnat to be models will enter and everyone pays $20 they are making money. well good luck caus ei have no idea what u look like..
oO_BrItTiShBaBe_Oo
I am in a different situation...
I'm taller than 5'7, cause that was my haight the last tiem I measured which was... a while ago.
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE tells me that I should be a model, even a lady who is a model instructor person!! So I am kinda like... eh, I dunno. I might want to, I think it would be fun, and a good discipline for me, because I know it's not all fun and games. But I also am not into modeling my body away... and nowadays it seems like that is all the kind of models ppl want.
So I am kinda of.... undecided. pinch.gif
But yeah, what do you guys think?
[2]Nekked
i think rampage is pretty legit.. just be careful, cuz there a lot of scumbag scammers out there. also, make sure it's your sort of "scene." and prepare to be criticized.
