I don't think cheerleading itself is sexist. but the way people react...eh =/ like, lets say some guy joins the cheerleading squad to help out with the stunts. if someone passes by and sees a guy on the cheerleading squad, they'll automatically think they're gay or something. yeaaah. did that make sense?

^^I agree with that. But i'm kinda confused....do you mean, the girls on the squad being sexist, or the other people? I don't find it sexist. It's just like any other athletic sport, they help cheer our teams onto victory!

partly. if a guy joined the squad, i dont think the girls would really care. but i think he'd be made fun of by boys. i know a lot of male cheerleaders though, and many of them are pretty good

some people are f*cking retarded becuz they feel that cheerleading is an easy and feminine sport. its not true becuz it takes hard work to do any cheerleading and if any guys are going to join it i think its really cool..but dont even for one second judge a sport just becuz it seems like a second sport. I mean mainly many think cheerleading is a girl sport becuz football is a sport made for guys..thats becuz..you wouldnt want to be flying to the other side of the field when a guy tackles you.

The sport isn't sexist. But it isn't right when a guy joins the cheerleading squad, they get made fun of.

i completely agree. someone told me recently that the dance team is just as hard as cheerleading...btu they've never done either. and not to compare *cough* but cheerleading has dance in it...and tumbling...and stunts....and cheers. i used to play softball, swimming, and basketball and cheerleading is by far harder then all of those put togehter.

No... not really...
it's just one of those things that girls do...
no one said that guys couldn't join.
They would probably be made fun of...
And like, what about football teams? (or something)
Sometimes, a girl CAN'T even join because they're girls.
And if they do, everyone would think that they're a man. (or something)

My thought of cheerleading...evil i guess. I dont know why but I think cheerleading is where the girls are just *go team goooo, come screw me, im a hoe, etc.*
I dont even think cheerleading is a sport. Yah you jump around in little skirts and do splits and all tht crap and cheer....thts not even a sport..ugh...cheerleading is the thing i really hate. MOST, not all, but MOST a stuck up popular hoes.
eh o well.
yah, i might get bashed for sayin this but hey, its what I think. I say when guys do it, hey, all the power to them. The guys seem pretty chill when they on the squad though. IDK, in my school, most of the female cheerleaders are hoes. most of them were pregnant once so they had that reputation comin.

I don't think it is, at least not at my school. There are plenty of male cheerleaders. They're not as prissy as you may think either, they're just really flexible boys lol

most of the cheerleaders at my school are freakin' totallyyyy rude. they're show-offs.
"OH! i'm so flexiable [sp?]" *Stretches legs in a sexy way* "it's all because of cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerleadinggggg"
^ haha.. i hate her. literally.. she's all show offy because shes a cheerleader.
she only brags about how good she is at it.

no, men are eligible for cheerleading too. yeah people react sexist, they sometimes think that male cheerleaders are gay... well, i mean george bush was a cheerleader, and everyone seems to think he is gay.

i dont think it's sexist. it's just guys are too chicken to join because they might be called by their friends a "sissy" or "gay"

No i really respect guy cheerleaders, i mean its harder then you think to do stunts while smiling, and at competitions its alot of pressure on you, because they are usually the bases and they make or break your chance to win.

no the actual sport isn't sexist, but yeah some attitudes towards it are, that's all. i see nothing wrong with guy cheerleaders.

Cheerleading is not sexist. It is one of the hardest sports around. Trust me I've cheered for 3 years but quit for various reasons(my coach had favoritism). Cheerleading isn't just jumping up and down yelling go team go! It's a combination of dance and gymnastics with a little bit of stunting and cheering. And trust me it's not a walk in the park. My old squad has to practice at least 5 timesa week for at least 3-5 hours. And that doesnt include games which lasts for about 2 hours. We also had to go to gymnastics every friday night for 4 hours. EVERY FRIDAY! we even practiced on Good Friday. We never had a friday off. And trust having to practice a mininum of 19 hours a week is hard. We also had a competion every weekend or a clinic. So it really takes away your social life and is a really big commitment. All cheerleaders aren't friken hoes and sluts. And male cheerleaders aren't all gay. So don't judge it as a sexist sport when you don't even know its like.

i think it's pointless. why do you need a sport to enhance a sport? i dunno don't get mad at me that's just my opinion. i have nothing against cheerleaders personally...just the activity itself.

Cheerleading is not sexist, boys are just afriad to do because they're afraid. I use to have a negative viewpoint about cheerleading until i became one. LOL i never thought i'd find myself actually making it. Tryouts are hrd and staying on the squad is hard! 3.0 averages! you can't hug any when you're in uniform! tough practices. Man a whole new appreciation. i think its pointless to cheer for soccer, but thats just me. OH and tennis!! Nobody wanted us around just a bunch of ungratefulness. We get alot of smack for only for footbal but nobody makes us feel welcomed when we're at a tennis match or a soccer game.
