Lots of filipino want to be an american coz they want an easy life where they dont mind things coz they want to have a good job but here in the phil. Its like a battle field, survivor of the fittest. l go to college when l was only 15 years old turning 16 in the end of the 1st semester. lf l dont work, l will have to stop going to school. l live in a not so good place in tondo. l have allot of relaives in america, some of my cousins dont want to be called filipino because of they are ashame that they are filipino. Lots of filipino already forgot the true meaning of being a filipino. our cultures are slowly dying. Only few practice the filipino traditions nowadays. ln school, lots of my friend speak english rather than tagalog. l am not use to it but l tried to get along. Lots of filipino watch english or korean drama rather than our own telanovela. You can see a korean here, chinesse there. l live near to china town in manila and l found it funny as they try to speak tagalog. filipino are changing nowadays. They want to study nursing to be able to go to america rather than helping our fellow filipino who needed their service. where one of the poorest country in asia. Filipino are talented and risk taker. Be pround to wave the flag of pur mother land. Lots of people are suffering now. Let us be their hope that on day our nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed.

I agree with Nekked. Why should your knowledge of the Phillipines make you a filipino? I don't know much about Africa, I can't speak a lick of Swahili, Shona, or Zulu, but my parents are Black, their parents are Black, and some point down the line, I had native African ancestors and that is who I am.

Besides, there are people out there who study Asian culture. If a white person could answer all those questions perfectly, would that make him/her filipino/a? No. It's all a question of parentage. And if you're secure in yourself to admit your heritage, good for you. There are plenty of others that deny it.
