No Difference
My forehead lies against the windowsill,
as stabs of raindrops rage outside.
Silhouettes of memories,
Safely tucked away are awakened
As a roar of thunder echoes
In every corner of the deafening silence.
Another flash stretches its way
Across the darkness like a spider web.
I close my eyes and clench my fists
For the gunshot of memories
Will come flooding back.
The rush of familiarity is overwhelming
I can’t hold back the tears
Just as I can’t hold the rain.
I don’t want to remember.
I can’t remember.
It brings back the burn,
The pain that just won’t fade.
You did this,
You’re the only reason
There is no difference between
The teardrops and the rain.
