any one had special moments while eating durian? in HK when I was eating a durian pie, this cocasian was sitting next to me and he looked so awkward. it was so funny. any moments with you people?

I had a durian tree in my backyard in the Philippines. It smelt really bad once it started ripening.

I love durian. It's so good and creamy. Haha actually I love almost all of the tropical fruits because I live in Malaysia.

Seriously though, the ice cream is sooo good =D It's one of the few ice creams that actually DO taste alot like the fruit. Strawberry ice cream doesn't taste like strawberries to me. Pssh.

Anyway, I don't know why peopel hate it so much. Yea the smell does sorta smell funny, but I like it. Although my breath will smell like it for the rest of the day, it's sort of like eating garlic or something. The smell remains, even after brushing your teeth lol.

What pisses me off is the ignorance some people have. I was watching Fear Factor, and they had to eat either durian or hundred-year-old eggs <--(so good). Everyone totally freaked out...

ate it once... i was freaked out by the way it smelt, but after i ate it, it was okay.

i remember the first time my nanay ate it at my house. it smelled like fart =X my family`s been trying to get me to eat it by saying - "it tastes like ice cream" mmhmmm.

Well, my friend brought one in for a social studies project once...
and me and her were the only asian poeple in our class...

so my teacher cuts it open.. and everyone was freaking out and how it smelt...
and then he did it all wrong... and then he gave everyone a LITTLE piece to try...
and me and my friend were the only people to eat it...

And yeah, it smells lke crap.

In HK, the durian's smell is really strong!!! But in Australia where I live, they don't smell at all for some reason................................I don't plan on eating durian again.....

This situation of durian is just like stinky tofu. Some ppls that like eating stinky tofu thinks it smells nice, where the smell is suffocating to other ppls! I haven't eaten stinky tofu, I don't even want to go near the stand!

im a local here in malaysia so when durian season comes, my dad will go buy lotsa durians from those lil stalls by the road. once, he bought so much and we couldn't finish it and it started to smell bad. yea..

yes, durian has a rather weird aftertaste. thats why i always bring my mints whenever its durian season. =]
