so i've been assigned to write lyrics to any song that represents Mr. Jim O`conner in the Glass Menagerie. I'm stuck in a group with 5 guys who are tone-deaf and idiots (haha i love them, but they're not that bright), and naturally they told me to come up with lyrics.

then michael goes to me and he's like "NO DEEP STUFF, NO DARK STUFF, write like a guy, not like a pms'ing girl, melissa."
and i'm like

i've decided to set this to "Secret Agent Man"... but i'm having problems writing like a guy.

Well I have a suggestion for what you can do. Try looking around here at most of the guy's topics.

i have been and its all serious, dark stuff.

they want something spunky and fun. i know i can do it, but i'm just not in the mood.

To write like a guy, you must think like a guy.

It's not a matter of what sex you are, it's just a matter of style.

See? Doesn't get any better than that.
Sometimes it's hard to pull inspiration for a style or theme of writing you're not used to.
Just try to make connections and think outside of what you're used to.
