I wear one because i'm a supporter tooo. My friends are most of the people in my school who wear them too. And they actually know what it's for and support it. Fashion trend? Somewhat...but people who wear them just because "everyone else is" and don't know the purpose..well..they should....blah.
sweetxsimplicity
Sep 19 2004, 10:35 PM
Yup, they might be losing their real meaning, but at least people who wear them, donated money and supported them. Unless you can buy them or get them for free somewhere..

what r they??? any photos for those?
juliar
Oct 17 2004, 10:53 AM
It doesn't matter if it's a trend or not, it's not really losing its meaning because the money is still going to LAF and there are still many people who buy the bracelets to support LAF.
My school's gonna try to buy alot and sell them for 2 dollars each.

Oooh, so that's what they are. Lol, people at my school are wearing those. My friend wanted one, but the reply that she got back was, "You have to be white to wear them."
Blah, whatever.
that's racist, whoever said that to your friend.

And wrong, cuz i know alot of mexicans that wear them.
It's starting to seem like a trend now, but I guess its for a good cause. *shrug*

I TOTALLY THINK THEY ARE LOSING THEIR MEANINGS. i makes me sick how people talked about it at school like it was a hip jelly bracelet all the rocking people would wear. lost all its meaning to me.

I definately think that the bracelets are more of a fashion statement now. More then 1/2 of my school is wearing then and i bet 1/2 of them don't know what it means! That makes just about everybody.

Oct 19 2004, 07:45 PM
Umm... whether or not you're wearing it just because it's a "fashion trend" ... you're still supporting the LAF... because you paid for it and those proceeds are going to go to the LAF... So either way... You're helping out.

This is just like asking "how did Adidas get so popular?" or something like that.
Just because a lot of "kewliez" people started wearing them, so more and more people went out to get a livestrong bracelet.

Bit superficial arent we? The livestrong bracelets are for the livestrong cancer fund, not for popularity. Just because all the celebs and "cool" people wear it, doesn't mean it's for "cool" people. Ordering one from the ebay is just for people who want it because others do, it does nothing whatsoever to the real meaning behind them in the first place.

They became popular because they're for a good cause.
I wear one cause my grandfather died of cancer.
As for the breast cancer wristbands, you can get them at Amazon.com in packs of 10... I believe they're on backorder as well. They were selling them in Target stores, but I'm not sure if they're sold out or not.

Heh.. you can get them with Build-A-Bear. You get one and the bear gets one as well.
The pink ones are for breast cancer and the silver ones are for AIDS.
