Sep 17 2004, 03:05 PM
Yeah, it's definitely starting to feel that way.
I was going to get one, but then I realized that people might take me as a poser, so I didn't.
My sister is getting some though.
I'll probably get one from her.
[The LIVESTRONG yellow bracelets are sold to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, I believe. If you don't know who Lance Armstrong is...

yellow bracelets for lance armstrong.
wear yellow, it's a fund for cancer. cancer is why lance started biking, then he liked it a lot while in recovery and kept getting better at it, and started competing.
there's like 3 people i know that wear them, but it's a worthy cause.

Oh. My. Good. Lord.
Most likely 75% of the people do not have an idea what the real cause of the
bracelet is for in my school.
Its just a big "trend" once again.
And it annoys me so much knowing they have no idea what they have on them.

that right there is a link to see what the LIVESTRONGE wristband is, for those of you who don`t know of it. anyways, yeah i do kind of think that they are just becoming a fashion trend. but i have to admit that the first time i saw it i just wanted it because it was yello & what it said, but then once i found out what it`s for, i got one for that reason. but yeah...& i know of this one kid who bought a bunch online & is selling them to people to get the money for himself. which is messed if you know the real meaning behind the wristband

i think it's sad how it's become a fashion trend. the sole purpose of the wrist band is for cancer awarenes and like proceeds go to lance armstrongs foundation and all that good stuff. buying them online and selling them to make a profit just ruins the whole thing.

Sep 19 2004, 01:15 AM
Fashion trend? Does it matter? When you order them, they can come in a pack of 10 bands (instead of shipping one, they package 10 to save money), so people share with families and friends. I think that's the reason why so many are wearing it.
I'm planing to buy some, too, and share them with my co-workers.
This kind of trend I will gladly follow.

Even if its for fashion trend its ok, its on their wrists so it reminds them of what to do

Sep 19 2004, 09:27 AM
It's worse in Austin... They were sold out in less than a week. Gah. That's the only reason I still don't have one. Of course, we do also hear the really touching stories... Like this woman walked into one of the local stores to get one, and was told that they were sold out. She told them that she wanted one for her husband's birthday, because he, too, was a cancer patient. All of the employees gave her their bands.

Humanity can be good sometimes...

Yeah they wear that at school.
Word. By the way, I was gonna use that L'arc pic for my next layout.. I love you yemi.
Anyway the people at our school don't make it just a trend. Actually since we're a military school we're not allowed to wear them and the students protested so we could wear them and support the fund, but of course it didn't work. Even if it is just a 'trend' as the rest of you say, the money they pay for it still supports the cancer research.. so it's win/win situation.
