Dancing.

i prefer dancing, cheerleading tends to get boring........ they're all pouncing around & stuff..... dancing has many more fresh moves & such good beats, cheerleading has moves that kinda get repetitive........

And you think we don't? I would like to see you perform in front of a full audience, usually around 2500-3000 as a bare minumim. In full shows it can be around 5000

And it's not the same things. I would like to see you guys do twenty forte turns on blocks of wood in your shoe or hold you leg next to your ear without hands or do half the jumps, turns and leaps we do.

Cheerleading can sometimes include dancing.. I like cheerleading, it includes a big group, a lot of activites and more flexibility than dancers. I mean you need to do hurpees, need to balance ontop of each other, which in dancing you dont need to do..

How does cheerleading require more flexibility than dance? Have you even actually seen dance? Dance requires a whole lot more flexibility. Do leaps in full split across a full stage with eight pound weights on your ankles, then come back and talk to me. A full split leap goes beyond a split on the floor

First of all we have to balance on a point that is no more than 1 inch sqare the entire time. Don't even talk to me about "balancing on top of eachother." We have to balance on guys, while staying in a certain balance and most of the time they are holding our weight up with one hand and moving. So don't even try about balancing.

oh and whoever said cheerleading was more dangerous than dance, they are right. BUT gymnastics is MUCH MUCH MUCH more dangerous than both. we see injuries ALL the time. just recently we had a girl on my competitive team dislocate her elbow right before competiton season and i broke my finger causing me to miss the first competition. we break, dislocate, & sprain stuff way more often.

that ^^ is not my opinion either it is FACT

Woah I didn't see this one. I agree that gymnastics is more dangerous than dance, but not by much. I do disagree with cheerleading being more dangerous. I injure my ankle every other month, girls have broken necks, collar bones, I have scars all up my legs, girls have almost become paralyzed, shattered knee caps and ankles. I almost shattered my collarbone when a lift didn't go right, people have been knocked unconsious during shows, there have been many concussions from being kicked in the head and rolling over on pointe usually causes a broken ankle. This isn't even including feet.

want to see real ballerina feet? The stuff underneath the shoe?

Dancing..Cheerleadings not my thing.
imm
Lol I don't think that most of the people here have experienced the experience of both dance and cheer. ._. Anyway I'm both a cheerleader and a dancer and they're both equal in different ways...it's hard to explain. =)

cheerleading is hard. so ms.leslie get the facts straight
buti rather do dancing since i am not very flexible with my body.

are you serious?!?
you think dancers don't have to be flexible!
dancers have to be just as flexible if not more flexible then cheerleaders.
starr9492
I have to go with dancing. I've done both but i liked dance a lot more. Currently I take ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, acro, musical theatre and technique(which is just a class to help with stregnth). I compete on a team and i do about four regional competitions and two or more nationals a year. I also help teach the younger kids at my studio. Its a lot of hard work and it takes a lot of stregnth and flexibility but i like a bit of a challenge it makes me work harder.
Gypsy Eyes
please don't double post^

but I agree with you, dancers have to be much more flexible.

I like them both

Dancing, definitely.

It seems to require more skill and patience, and determination.

Cheerleading seems to me just like anyone can join, and it doesn't matter how talented you are, if you can jump in the air and yell really loud, you're in.

That's what it's like at my school, anyway. I'm sure it's not like that everywhere. The dance team has always been cooler than the cheerleading squad at my school.

I had taken dance for 7 years...I wish I hadn't quit cry.gif

There are different levels of entrance in both dance and cheerleading. Both of them become rather advanced and neither are easy.

However, I would say that dance is a far more versitile, interesting, and far less superficial an activity in comparison to cheerleading. I greatly prefer Dance.
