okay. here is the deal...


my mom is the coolest. she lets me and my sister(she is 17) do alot of stuff and be really free. she let me, my sister, and some of our friends drink on one of my other friends 18th b-day. it was pretty fun. and she even let me try one of her cigarettes and cigars. (it was my first. and i was 14.)

right now, she is outside with some of my sister's friends and she gave them some smokes. i don't think that that is right. do you? i don't know if i should talk to her about it and let her know how i feel about it. but i don't want to seem like a titty baby or a little kid. what should i do?

by the way....my sister's friends are 16 & 17-years-old.

Nope. It isn't right. If they get addicted then she just effed up their life/lives.

Umm...I don't find your mom cool. Oh wow she gave you drugs. Whoop-de-doo! Do you know what cancer is? And since when was doing drugs defined as cool? Omfg. Nothing furthur to say because I'll end up cussing.

Well you should still talk to her about it. In fact, you shouldn't have even tried her cigars/cigarrettes. But it's great that you want her to not influence others.

Tell me though... Deep down, do you wish she would stop smoking or using drugs IF she did use drugs or drink or anything? If you talk to her about it, maybe she can get some help.

gee...well...I mean...I really do think that you should talk with your mom. I mean...I wish that I had such an easy-going mom...but you know all those warnings that people give: "Smoking is bad for you. Smoking can lead to cancer or heart disease. People who smoke have very bad risks." etc...etc...and those are true! i know you don't want your sister getting into all sorts of life's troubles when she grows up, and I know you don't want to face them either. Besides...your mom could get into trouble! just sit down with her and tell her that it's just not right!

uh.. i dont think thats cool.. well its good that parents dont over protect u but there has to be a limit where they shouldnt allow u to do certain things, she should definitely not let ur sisters friends smoke, if ur sisters friends parents find out, ur mom might get sued/fined.

theres certain times when parents goes kind of far in what they're doing and in this case, its one of them. smoking at this young of an age or any age for that matter could lead to alot of problems later on. your mom could get into alot of trouble if your sister friends find out that your mom let them smoke, she could be sued or arrested so you should tell her to stop

personally i find that very wrong. not only that fact shes not giving you a good example of what to do and what not, she offers you stogs and alcohol. i mean allowing you do it and offering is different, allowing you doesnt neccessarily mean she offers you stogs. no offense but that kind of ma is not someone id want to set as my role model at all.

okay well i talked to my mom about the whole thing and i found out that my sister's friends had brought their own smokes. but she was still letting them smoke in front of her. i told her that i thought that it was wrong and that i thought that she shouldn't do that. she was understood where i was coming from. so i guess we worked it out...

Whoa, that sounds cool and all. But I think your mom should start setting some limits, even if the things she lets you do seem "cool." I think you should tell her how you feel and talk to her about it, maybe make a few changes. But uhm, yeah, that's my opinion.

All I can say is... I know what it's like to have a "cool" mom. I've been allowed to drink since I was young (maybe 9 or 10) and pretty much do whatever I wanted to do...it's not always a bad thing though; you'll find that you'll be able to talk to her more openly as time gets by. As for the situation now, is there an adult that you can talk to ? (like an aunt, uncle?) Your mom's like mine; she wants to be your best friend, and if that means giving you beer and cigs, then that's the way it is...at least through her eyes. If you feel comfortable, talk to her :)

yeah.. your mom is NOT cool in my opinion... I mean, hello... your mom is supposed to be the responsible one... she's supposed to tell you NOT to do drugs and NOT to smoke or do anything bad... nice way to set a good example... you should tell her to stop doing what she's doing... she's letting kids/teenagers do drugs, smoke, and drink??? psssh... i'd rather have a mom that I can look up to than one who's 'cool' because she lets you drink and smoke at a young age

there is one thing that i can not stand and it's cigarettes and people who smoke them...it DEFINATLY isn't right for your mother to be giving kids cigarettes...so i suggest mustering up some courage and risk seeming like a little kid and tell her how you feel.

heyy. i have no idea why this was brought back up after like...A LONG TIME but just an update.

my mom was going through some problems with her life back them but has long since changed. and for those of you that poked fun at my life, specifically th5418, i don't appreciate it one bit.
