the theaory of the egg and chicken. What came first?

But you know what this will lead to? Religion, evolution vs creation...

a lizard came first and laid an egg.. then it somehow became a chicken. end of discussion.

I can't believe I'm going to reply to this thread. But hey, I'm bored. I personally think that some creature evolved into a chicken and laid the egg. I mean... how can an egg just appear?
